Latest Ingersoll Rand cordless impact wrench release claims to have more breakaway power @ 365ft lbs than the of the current 3/8 and 1/2 drive competition in cordless compact wrenches like the Milwaukee Fuel 2754 and 2755 @ 220 ftlbs

Slightly heavier and longer the IR as kit has one 5.0 battery and one 2.5 battery plus soft side tool bag is $399

Milwaukee -22 kits (2)5.0 batteries, charger and hard case $329

I like the power adjustment dial on the back of the tool body better than the push button switches

Check out the video :D

I bought one of the Milwaukee Fuel 18V 1/2" impact wrenches a month or two ago. It's handy as heck. I already had a drill and driver with 4.0aH batteries, so I bought the impact wrench as a bare tool. The power adjustment you mention is probably a better idea then the push buttons, but I haven't had any issues.

Another cordless tool that's pretty handy is an angle grinder. Great for cutting things with a cut-off disk.

If $399 isn't out of the equation, how about upping it another $50 and get a tool-charger-battery-bag Makita with 740 ft. lbs.

To be fair these 3/8 and 1/2 IR units aren't comparable to what any of the brushless high torque models offered by Milwaukee, Dewalt and now Makita can do. Those units obviously being more powerful are seriously much larger in design and also extremely heavy to hold.

As the article points out the Milwaukee 2754 mentioned was the most competitive model with same features 4 torque speeds, 3/8 anvil and brushless design. Not really much larger than most 1/4 hex impact drivers

Comparatively as the big guns go the 2763-22 1/2 inch High Torque Milwaukee kit list price is $429 and was on sale earlier this week for 20% off at COP Tool so was only $343.20 The 2754 @ $329 with 5.0 and was also 20% off and went out the door for $263.20 so being on sale was not even $5.00 more than a 2754-22 Compact kit (2.0 battery) so pretty good deal. :D

I have had a High torque brushless 2763 for around two years now I bought as a bare tool for the everyday price of $219.

Also a 2655B 1/2 compact wrench -22 kit was also $329 new and at the time came with free xtra 4.0 battery

The new stop impact design on both the 1/2 and 3/8 IR and Milwaukee models is a great feature to have.

That big Makita impact along with 3/4 drive model (which both only recently came out) are extremely nice tools with very good reviews. The 3 control speed settings are nice. The Dewalt model also has that option. The older Milwaukee has just 2 settings for right now.

So is the real question which cordless impact wrench is the right one...

Or is there more than just one to have?
