Interesting article: lStats don't support Massachusetts AG's expanded ban on 'assault weapons' | Fox News When an attorney-general makes a decision that is politically motivated (as the Massachusetts AG apparently did), it's a travesty. Ive also noticed (and correct me if I'm wrong) that no TBNers from MA have posted on this thread...
I'm a MA resident and I obviously support the AG. Bottom line is that we don't want people running around with assault weapons and this new decision simply closes loopholes that the gun industry was taking advantage of.

So, you're OK with depriving thousands of other peoples' rights?
Too bad the Feds didn't go with the citizen's decision to not allow Utah to recognize gay marriage...after all, that was the citizens' choice, wasn't it?
That's the biggest problem with the looney left...they support certain "rights" yet want to deny enumerated rights (such as the 2nd Amendment). That BS is why I went from a moderate Democrat to a Republican years ago.

BTW, although I think the MA AG should be sued, I want to be fair about things (and I may have written this in a previous post)...the bill that banned "assault" rifles in MA was signed by that scumbag RINO, Mitt Romney.
If they try this in VT, we already have the resources in place to contest any attempts.

Calm down. The change to the law was just closing a loop hole. States have a right to limit what types of firearms are available. Otherwise we could buy 40mm antiaircraft weapons Etc. You'll hear very little complaining in MA because citizens realize 1) NRA since 1977 is nuts and 2) since we put down the Brits in 1776, no government has tried to subjugate us even though we have one of the lowest firearm ownership rates. 3) we benefit from gun control as evidenced by having the lowest firearm associated death rate in the continental USA.

Let us be.

And yet, DC which has similarly strict rules has about the highest firearm associated death rate in the continental USA...

True. Sadly inner city gun violence has not responded to control efforts. It doesn't impact citizens other than young black and brown males for the most part. No evidence that assault rifles would help in any way.

Agree all causes are important but countries where lots of firearms are available tend to have higher murder rates. Firearms are more efficient, deadlier and when readily available quicker. What might be an assault without a gun turns to homicide with a gun. Our firearm homicide rate is what distinguishes us from other "advanced" countries. Compare US homicide rates to Europe or Oceana

There you go talking manipulated data again.

Which LIE is the truth ?? MA or RI ?? Do you even live in the USA ??

Barry, if you look at a map you'll see that it's perfectly possible to live in MA and have a weekend/future retirement home in RI. Takes me 90 minutes to go from one to the other.

If you don't like comparing the US to Canada, Australia and UK, (all of which have large heterogeneous immigrant populations) then just compare your state to mine (MA).

Manipulate data however you want but your still Manipulating it to fit your view. Your fear of being shot is your own.
My BIL was born and raised in RI. He has told me all about the socialist state it has become. That is why he left.
