GOT MY CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT YESTERDAY *


Yesterday afternoon I went to our local gun shop to get a small handgun for personal protection.

With good gear, you can carry a 4" semi with 32 rounds with shorts and a t-shirt and no one will ever know.

I am however starting to feel like an old timer. The other day with some customers of mine, out of 5 men, I was the only one wearing 100% leather with an outside the waistband holster LOL

I honestly believe that the founding fathers of this great nation were leary of a strong central government. They had their fill of England and wanted checks and balances to control power and the nature of man.

Yep. That why they started with the articles of confederation and only after that failed (no way to force the states to pay their bills for one reason) they put together a union with a stronger central government (with the Constitution).

So 100% of those possessing a handgun in Roxbury, Dorchester, and perhaps Brockton have LTC's ( a means of gun control) as required by MA? Those three towns are predominately in the news for shootings.

No, as you correctly imply, poor areas of cities have a lot of gun trouble involving young mostly black but also Hispanic and Asian males in gang or drug culture. You could add parts of Worcester, Springfield and Lowell to the list. Whitey Bulger is now behind bars but white gangsters used to account for a lot of it too. The only saving grace is that for the most part they all shoot each other. Armed robbery and similar crimes against innocent people is pretty rare.

It's quite clear that 1 set of rules for the entire country does not work terribly well as what works in NYC and Chicago likely won't work in Alaska and Wyoming. That's why carrying a gun or smoking marijuana are perfectly legal in some states and will get you a prison sentence in others. At least we have the ability to move to an area where the laws reflect our views.

I greatly enjoy my freedoms I am able to enjoy in this part of the world where rifles in back windows of pickups are still common sight and gunshots likely mean someone was hunting or shooting a coyote. I can't imagine living in a place where so many freedoms are taken away by everything from ridiculous laws, to city ordinances, and even homeowners association rules and regs.

Men being men, over time, I also believe we are now past the point of men abusing that power. Lincoln solidified it with the civil war won by the north IMO.
