I appreciate that you are making your own statements but how did you even find out about this technical correction? I'm guessing that the NRA network was responsible. Or do Vermonters routinely do checks of the MA equivalent of the federal register?

Wasn't hard...the newspapers, plus a bit of research online (and not the NRA's website).
This wasn't a "correction" at all, this was nothing less than misinterpretation and abuse by a politically minded AG who should be sued.

I'll give you an example...the VT looney AG joined 17 or 18 other looney AGs in threatening prosecution of those who espouse global warming is a natural situation and not necessarily "man made".
We contacted the VT AG and told him...free speech is free speech...and, as Voltaire (I think) said (words to this effect) "I care not for what you say, but I shall defend your right to say it!". We told the AG the minute he tries his stupid crap, we would not only file class action lawsuit against him personally, we'd file a friend of the court brief that he speaks for himself, not the citizens of Vermont.

I hope the freedom loving citizens of MA do the same against this crazy AG for her unilateral actions.

Thanks to NRA ban on most CDC firearms research we don't have good data on how many kids lives might be saved by having guns in house but we do know that hundreds are accidentally killed when they find and play with parents guns.

No matter how many laws you pass, you can't protect people from stupid.

And when was the last time you did some research that involved more than parroting NRA talking points? True debate requires independent research and thinking. I'm well aware y'all are fed up with gun control discussions but keep in mind that this one started over the closing of a simple technical loop hole in a state law and involves the right of a state to determine it's own gun laws. Contrary to what some of you believe, states are allowed to do that. I thought you were big proponents of state's rights or is that only when states do things you personally agree with? I imagine the only reason this came up for debate here was some hysterical hand waving from the NRA.
If ever there was an expert group about guns, gun statistics, gun laws, gun rights, the NRA is that group. IT is not a gun expert. HS

The NRA is a powerful lobbying and special interest group with far ranging political influence. Please don't think we are dumb enough to accept that it is a simple sportsman's association.

I never said that it was. The NRA is our prime weapon for defending our gun rights. Key word OUR Please don't think I am stupid either.

It is indeed a sad state of affairs when the law is what's being DEFENDED from attack by the government.

I'm tending to agree with you on this point. There's some wishy/washy going on in here about states rights VS constitutional rights that seem to suite folks fine when the discussion is leaning in their favor. I.E.... The fed can't tell my state what to do, but I wish the fed would step in and tell your state what to do.

... Why don't you join the NRA so you can learn more?

Oh man, why don't we all join the opposing political party, go to a different church, and cross-dress for a while, while we're at it?

No one wants the Fed to step in and tell the state what to do. We want the Judicial branch of the state to try and then hang this rouge AG for overstepping her bounds.
