I read this whole thread. The thing I can't understand is how a household can be without a pickup.
I was not rich by any means in my early years, but I have always had a pickup. So my advice, before getting a tractor- - - - - buy a truck!:2cents:

A 1/2 ton pickup is a no better tow vehicle than a 1/2 ton suburban.

Unless you have a larger tractor, today's and the last decades , 1/2 ton pickups are more than capable as tow rigs for tractors.

Me,I would pull with a 3/4 ton a 1/2 will pull it but everything on a 1\2 ton is small and your working the engine more.

Where is the OP? Do they have their tractor?

Who joins a forum to ask a random question to never return or fill us in? Just ask your freinds? Maybe all they have is millineal freinds who live in apartment ts condos or on postage stamp lots in town and Cann the plumer, bug man or yard man at the first sign or trouble or need?

Your right that a lot of ½ tons can pull and are rated to pull a lot but once I started pulling with a ¾ ton I will never go back. It is just SO much more stable and "planted" over my old ½ ton (My ½ was rated for around 11K)
If nothing else it sure feels safer!

My 1/2 has a plenty capable motor being only .1 liter smaller than my ton truck, but the 1/2 ton lacks the suspension and brakes. A buddy has a F-250 V10. He probably has equal brakes and way more motor, but the F-350 has him beat on suspension. That V10 is pretty sweet. I'd like to have a 1 ton with a V10.

Well "she" talked about her husband, and the name is "scmoopette" both of which lead one to assume female, but who knows these days...

The only difference between an F250 and F350 is the spring pack and the spacer block on the rear axle. They are otherwise identical. Assuming SRW, and not duallys.
