Knowing how our court system (does not) work, there will be some liability assigned to both parties. The liability to the store, however low, will cost them... even though the Leo should have known better.

I wonder if I accidentally shot myself while drinking hot McDonalds coffee and ended up spilling the coffee on my legs.....I could sue both McDonalds and the gun maker......since.......it could not possibly be my fault???:confused2:

I found a double barrel shotgun from the late 1800's here on the Larro Ranchero {Calhoun County Florida} when we were prepping the land to plant longleaf pines in 1999. Over 90% of the wood was gone, and a goodly amount of the metal. The reason the one found out west was in such good shape was lack of humidity. When I spent some time in the Rocky Mountains I was amazed at how you could find tin cans that were over a hundred years old. In Florida they start to rust after a few months.

Yep, same around here.. a tin can lasts a couple of years, out west a couple of centuries.

Yup, seen pics of vintage cars from 30's thru 50's out west with virtually no rust

A friend of mine lost a rile hunting in the UP. Propped it up next to a tree, took a nap, walked out of the woods without. Alcohol was involved...:)

Between humidity and the freeze thaw cycle, I think things rot away here just as fast as they do down there. Plus if it is on the road, the road salt gets it quick.

Glad to see we are back on track continuing this thread as a history lesson.

I grew up in the Arizona desert and it was amazing the old stuff we would find in out of the way places that was well preserved. Up in the Superstition Mountains, where the legend of the Lost Dutchman gold mine is seated, folks often found evidence of lost explorers for that mine that had disappeared.

We used to drive through the area east of Phoenix to get up to a small (then) town of Payson. After every gully washer we had to re-establish that old desert road. One time the road was moved roughly 100' from its previous location. Here was an old model T pickup setting along the road, body full of sand, all 4 tires still had some air in them, radiator still had water, paint fairly good but well sanded. 6 months later the road had moved again, the model T was gone. We always carried shovels and planks on that road as sand traps were common. Almost every trip you encountered some poor soul stuck in the sand.

Back then we just called it the road to Payson, Now it is a Freeway called the Bee Line Highway.

For those that would like to see the firearm and a nice young lady explain some of its attributes you can click on the video:

Thats pretty cool. It would be my dream to find an artifact like that. The nice lady forgot to zip up her leather coat.

My uncle gave my dad a model 1894 when he passed away, but my brother has taken it home for safekeeping, probably because I voiced some dibs. :( We will armwrestle I suppose.
