Cougar

Yeah my friend wanted to go out looking for Cougar proof, but said it was likely big foot. We did not find any solid evidence either way. Won't go out on the "back 40" now without at least the 9mm pistol with me.
Better take the gun you never know when you might need it!! You never hear a cat till it on you.

yup...was working a turkey a few years ago...had him talking for 2 hours or more...then there was a loud crash right behind me and the game ended (the sounds of a hen turkey and a gobbler probably sound like a dinner bell). Guessing bear but around here could have been a coyote or a wolf. I now carry my 9mm.

Yeah we are getting ready to build a barn too. There will be a 12 ga in the barn at all times too. Once we have the horses hear I am actually more worried about trespassers than I am about varmints. People assume because there is a horse barn there is valuable stuff in the barn.

There is valuable stuff in the barn... tractors and shotguns!

There are about ZERO non-human predators in Indiana capable of harming humans(very few venomous snakes, too). I'd be way more worried about brown recluse spiders, disease from mouse droppings, or allergy to bee stings than anything else. I'd also spend some cash on lightning rods before cougar protection. ;)

Hey don't poo poo lightning rods. They work. That is why you see them on TV towers and important buildings. And yes the chance of your building being struck by lightning is probably greater than being eaten by a cougar in Indiana. BUT still not a bad idea to have a firearm handy when visiting your barn in the middle of the night. :)

I'm not poo pooing lightning rods at all. They are worth the investment.

I am poo pooing leaving a 12ga in the barn. It won't do you any good when you get eaten by the cougar walking between the house and the barn... in Indiana. ;)

Or, more likely, you'll get shot with it by the meth head that's making the noise in your barn that you are going out to investigate, thinking its a cougar.... in Indiana.

You can't live you life worring about cougar. I live up north Wi
and have not seen a wolf or a track. I think there only a threat if you come face to face.
