Messicks mentioned over in the pricing thread they have some ZTR's discounted. Going to price one, not sure yet which one.

I'm over stocked on mid-range ZTR's in the 6000-8500 range. Mostly Kubota Z700, Ferris F210, eXmark Pioneer, Husquvarna MZ61. At this point I'd move a few at cost to clear our inventory going though winter. Drop me a line at sales@messicks.com if you are interested. Must be able to pickup at one of our stores in south central PA.

Good Morning! About 70F (the weather station's on the blink again). Sunny. High 96F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Icks-nay on the ife-knay, Eric. Don't want our misguided legislators adopting any more English laws that only serve to leave us defenseless.

Drew, the fence lizards here often come into the garage, then hide under heavy equipment when I try to shoo them out. Haven't found one in the house yet though. That's not the case for tree frogs, as I think they're attracted to light at night and will come in through even the tiniest crack in the sliding screen door. Have found several desiccated carcasses, though, as they're not as good at getting out as they are at getting in. The worst are the potato bugs, which come out at night and make scraping sounds as they move on the laminate flooring. I think they're harmless, but they sure look scary, and I dread the day I step on one in my bare feet!

A friend of mine with a stripped a cylinder stud thread in his BMW GS motorcycle engine dropped by yesterday with his bike and we were able to fix that problem.

But in the course of our conversation he let drop that almost a year ago he'd been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, had done the surgery/kemo routine, and the last checkup had shown no growth in the tumor. But the doctors were unable to give him any idea of how long that would last, and he was giving a lot of thought to how to spend the rest of his presumably short life.

I was more than a little taken aback by this news, and it really brought into focus what the important things in this man's life are: his wife, her ability to continue without him, and after that, what he'd do with the rest of his time. He wanted to take a trip or two with her on the old GS, and I was really happy to help him do that. But these weren't trips to the Alps or other exotic destinations. Instead he was aiming for places they'd both been before, and enjoyed, an almost sure thing good time. We talked about a new motorcycle, but the GS with more than 160K miles on it was as much an old friend as his people, and it only seemed fitting that it would be the conveyance of choice.

But the thing that really got me is that he's that not much older than I am, and though he's spent much more of his life smelling the roses than I have, it was a clear signal that life is indeed finite, and in spite of best intentions or planning, something like cancer can rear its ugly head and cut short a lovely life.

Feeling my mortality today.

Good morning all. Got a day off so entertaining the two year old grand daughter is the focus today.
Been slowly burning up over something on the news radio on the way home last night.
It seems that some kids that need epi pens won't have them this year due to a 400% price increase. I don't need one but some guys I work with do. It's a shame our health industry is profit driven. Apparently there have been no changes in the manufacturing and costs to make are less than 10 dollars and now are selling for 400-600 bucks each. and the only reason is "charge what the market will bear"
I did see first hand this year an example of this. I had to get a root canal and was switching jobs so the dentist wasn't sure in the insurance. So she billed me 1800 for all.
When the insurance was figured out which one would be paying it. They refunded my credit card for the 1800 and billed insurance.
I got a copy of the insurance billing in my email. They billed them 2324.00.

75.2F and sunny @ 10:20 ... high predicted to be 87F and a thunderstorm in spots. Cold front moves through tonight, tomorrow's high is only supposed to be 77F.

Pulled down 320' of 6' vinyl-coated chain link fence yesterday and moved it over to the center. Was 88F (HI 92F) when we quit around 14:00, and I was totally soaked.

Got log splitter moved into the shed yesterday afternoon, installed the new 4 x 24 cylinder and push block, and reconnected the hoses. Still have to shorten the shaft on the 3" cylinder for the log lift and install it. Also need to build the 4-way wedge.

Before I do any of that though, I need to drop the box blade, pull the loader, and install the MMM and get the grass mowed ... and picked up ... :(

70 this morning and headed to 81 today. Rain on its way.

Going to try and get the trailer loaded before the rain gets here. I'm taking some lumber down to my grandfathers to plane down to a consistent thickness for the siding on the building. It's all rough sawn poplar. Need to talk the wife into buying me a planer. :).

Ed. Sounds like a good knife there. Always appreciate a good knife. I'm not usually caught without 2-3 knives on me. :). I carry a Browning pocket knife, a Kobalt folding utility, and a Leatherman Surge on my belt. I can't walk straight without the Kobalt or the Leatherman. I have a left pull and the weight is just enough to correct it. :).

Best wishes for you and the wife ... you guys will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Good morning all, 65 this morning (feels much cooler than the 70 yesterday, thinking humidity is lower this morning (40%, didn't note it yesterday).

Daughter and grand daughter joined us last night for dinner and are staying for the rest of the weekend (we are camping). Grand daughter gets up at 6am every morning (during the week she needs to be up to get ready to go to day care). Wife likes to sleep later, hope she can get enough rest. I appreciate her very much and tell her often.

My daughter that is visiting is one of the folks that need to carry epi pen, alot of folks are not happy about the increase. I don't know the reason for the increase but know that some of our increases in medical right now are because of government regulations. Daughter is MA and hears lots of stuff public doesn't hear..

We're going to do some kayaking (smooth lake, not rough water) today and enjoy a relaxing day... wishing all a nice weekend!

Kyle, my plastic came off yesterday, it was baked and crumbly and had started to blow away in little chunks.
What are you planning for the fall garden?

Don, I honestly don't know. I would like to amend my poor soil some more but can't really afford it right now. I guess I should stick something in the hard clay.

RNG, sorry about your friend. I too, worry about it from the standpoint of having young children.

80 degrees and a very pleasant day. Powerwashed my rear deck and about half of the front of the house; boy mold grows here quickly. The garage front is the worst; due to the night light on all night attracting bugs. So all that water splashing around kept me cool and the house looks much better with the green off. Temporarily.

Might be getting into big trouble.
Thinking about buying another tractor.
An older used one to keep the rototiller on, an old IH or MF, lots around. Small budget, about 5 grand.
something like this: TractorHouse.com | 1975 INTERNATIONAL 574 For Sale
I should post in the IH section and get some advice on which models were preferred. Many of the older IH tractors in this hp range were British
or German interestingly.

70°F and .29 inches rain last 24 hours. Still coming down.

Ron, hope your wife gets a good second opinion

Be safe
Have a great day

Good afternoon all, 82 at 1pm going to 88 with a 20% chance of showers this Pm. Got up late, 6:15 and went to a big yard sale at Expo Land. (the county fair grounds) and bought a bunch of old woodworking tools. Couple hand planes, one for parts and a scraper plane were the big things. Got a scrap of granite counter top for a flat place to flatten the soles of the planes. Going to loaf for the rest of the day, maybe even a nap.

Eric I am to chicken to shave more than a little patch, I don't like stitches.

Gave a great day. Ed

Ed,
I have the Mitsubishi Slimline model. Love it. One outside unit is feeding two bedrooms upstairs which have their own wall unit mounted up near the ceiling. Completely quiet, remote controls for each room. Electric went down about 20%.
They had a model for 4 rooms but I just put a new heat pump in for my downstairs unit a year before so I only did the upstairs.
I highly recommend them.
Lenny

Thanks, I need air con and heat in the 20x12 shop and figured that a mini split might be a good fit.

No such thing as just a pocket knife, Ed. When I used to fly a lot, I had to leave mine at home and I felt naked without it. Now I carry two: a tiny Mini Champ Swiss Army, and a Benchmade folder that by now is so used I can't even find a model number on it. I've come to learn that the Mini Champ is very good at slipping out of my pocket, especially on those rare occasions where I have to wear dress pants. So I have a brand new spare sitting in a drawer for the next time that happens. And there are a bunch of old past favorite pocket knives in that same drawer.

Life's too short to be long without a favorite pocket friend, and compared to other guilty pleasures, a great knife if very affordable.

I have been carrying a knife for a long time. I remember the grade school teachers borrowing my knife. Very wrong to me to carry a folding utility knife because I could not find my pocket knife. It feels good in there. Ed

I was looking at the pricing for the Mitsubishi mini splits and they are still really pricey IMO. Are they cheaper to install? I assume you have to run copper up to the coils?

Kyle, my nephew, who has his own AC/heating business, installs them and just installed one for his parents, in the master bedroom, and they love it. He is putting a bid in to install a couple of 2 tons in a community building out here. You do need to have an empty slot in your electrical box and a 1 1/2" hole through the wall for the copper and the drain line and know how to put the coolant in. They are cheaper to install because no ductwork is involved. They also are effective heat pumps to below zero, (some below) and have no heater coils. They are also a lot more energy efficient because they are variable speed at the compressor. They do not take a window out of the room which is also a big plus.

And they are also whisper quiet. Outside and Inside as well.

Amazon.com: Pioneer Ductless Wall Mount Mini Split INVERTER Air Conditioner with Heat Pump, 12 BTU (1 Ton), 15 SEER, 28~23 VAC, Full Set: Home & Kitchen

Kyle, Amazon surprisingly sells minisplits and this seems to get good reviews. I'm guessing a Mitsubishi or Samsung is higher quality but who knows.
Drew, I wonder where the Pioneer is made and how their quality is? I know some quality things come out of China, but for the most part, you have to take the Chinese business model of profits over quality out of the equation. My GM V6 3.4L with 315,000 miles was made in China.

Drew, I sometimes would like a tractor for each implement.

Don, I got a ballpark quote of $5000 to install a new 4 ton 16 SEER unit with a new air handler and electric furnace. Way too much for my budget. I have found the same equipment online for about $2500 delivered. The problem is, with out a licensed installer to sign off on the install, you have NO warranty.

Do the mini splits use Glycol to deliver the cold or heat? Or does freon run up to an evap coil?

I got a long list of to do items done. Trying to keep up with rs and Rng today I guess.

Got some brownie points by making coffee and washing the dishes.
Son and I both got haircuts.
Went to the bank.
Went to B&W food store for some ground meat.
Got the kids some ICEE's for being good.
Came home and started cleaning out the barn. I needed to get a lot of stuff situated, some stuff thrown out.
Put new coolant overflow tank on the Deere 4310. Checked engine oil. Checked front differential oil level. The little Deere could use some new plastic, but I can use it for probably a few more years before it really needs replaced. 14 years old as of now, and mostly stays outside.
Figured out what was causing the Gator to run on one cylinder. One of the float bowls must've been stuck. A little bit of tinking on the bottom and side of the carb and she purrs again. :)

I got about 2 acres of very tall johnson grass and bunch grass weeds shredded with the 4310. It sure wasn't built for mowing that kind of stuff. I can bog down the 84 hp big brother 5420 with only a 6' cutter in this stuff.

Pouring rain in the form of Cats and Dogs right now, with many training storms behind this one.

Kyle, rain staying west of us ...... So far. We've had 7" since last Saturday. Was out mowing around and under trees in the horse pasture and managed to get Zero Turn stuck. This only happens when I'm as far from the shop as possible so, long walk back to get Polaris Ranger and tow strap. Took about two minutes to get the ZT to firm ground. Drove Polaris back to shop then long walk back to pasture. One hour of lost time. I knew I was pushing it in the area where I was but, duh!

Strange how that "stuck" thing happens when you are not right near your backup help.

We've got 1.6" in 30 minutes and it finally let up. I even "let" TxDon have some rain. At least I tried to send it that way.

Some of the Austin TV stations are forecasting up to 16" south of Austin by tomorrow night. Hope it comes reasonably slow.
