The vast majority of what is wrong with today's kids falls at the feet of today's parents.
I agree along with the politicians but that falls to the parents again because they are the idiots who elect those idiots into office who tell them what they can and can't do raising their kids.
If I had my way I'd restore the draft except make it mandatory conscription serving the country for everyone as soon as they graduate from HS. They'd have a choice, either two years in the military in an infantry type outfit or four years serving their country in other ways like rebuilding the infrastructure in something like the old CCC. First thing that happens in boot camp, and everybody gets boot camp, is they take your cell phone away from you.
Only after fulfilling your commitment to your country could you vote and have a voice. Don't wanna serve, that's fine then you don't get to vote, nor could you get any public sector job or be elected to any public office. People like Clinton and Obama or Trump for that matter could never be elected to anything, even local dog catcher much less President and Commander in Chief. It always rubs me the wrong way to see someone who's never served in the military be Commander in Chief and be saluted, especially a draft dodger. How could you expect kids to make any sense out of that?
