Trapping moles is illegal in Washington state, so I use poison. Besides, it's easier to stuff poison down the hole than trying to find a tunnel to put a trap in.
Ta da! 2 dead moles!

What's funny in Washington State......you cannot use the scissor or spear traps legally to kill a mole but you can legally own them and buy them at any local hardware store. I own several......but they are only for my collection......sometimes I store them in the ground near my mole holes.:laughing:

My wife used to ask me when I stuck my hand down a gopher hole if I was afraid of getting bit. I laughed and said, "no"
So one day I go to uncover the gopher trap and the hole is only half back-filled. Usually if the trap doesn't get them the hole is completely filled in. While I was working on it my knee collapsed a tunnel resulting in the opening of a new hole. So I thought I'd just stick a trap in the new hole. I stuck my hand in the hole to clear out some dirt and suddenly I felt a pinch. When I yanked my hand out the **** gopher came with it. He had bit the webbing between my thumb and forefinger and was still hanging on when I yanked my hand out. All of a sudden I'm looking eye to eye at this gopher sitting next to me on the ground. I reached for a piece of rebar and ran him through!
I think what happened was he was in the middle of back filling the hole and when my knee collapsed the tunnel he was stuck between both openings with nowhere to run.
The moral of the story....Real men noodle for gophers! LOL

Good Lord Moss - do you have a death wish? Your striped friend could have just as easily turned and come right up beside you to leave a friendly reminder. I appreciate natures animals as much as anybody - but not usually this close up.

I have several 'sets' out (1 Easy-Set, 2 OOS, and 5 Trapline pairs) but only one hit in a few days. This one is pretty big, but typical for our area. (>6" w/tail)
We're gearing up for trapping season. (& have to start somewhere :laughing Time to dye/wax the Duffer's, Coon Cuffs, and leg-holds. We'll have to see if this will be a good Winter, as the last two haven't been trapper-friendly.
