Our shaver hd10 was originally purchased by my grandfather many years ago. It has always been used on the back of the Massey 265 or ford 5610 and has always worked fine until last year. Now I need it so it's time to figure out the problem. The pounder will raise about a foot or two and then stop. If you pull up on the pounder and the handle you can get it up another few inches. Works fine letting it down and can stop it on the way down. We have tried it on both tractors after this problem started and even checked pressure and both tractors were fine. Any ideas? It is a red single lever gresen valve that I believe says 1841 on it. I have a video of it as well but not sure how to post it.
Thanks in advance.

Hose has been known to fail internally in some way that closes the flow path under flow conditions -- an inner liner problem that is probably directional and speed affected. Maybe the line from the valve to the cyl is doing this in the inward direction. Altho a rare and unlikely event it is the only thing I can come up with that fits. :confused3:

Put the video on Youtube (or your favorite image hosting site) and post a link so we can take a look at it.

If cylinder is single acting as I'm thinking it is check cyl breather to see if it's plugged.

It is SA but no breather. Pressurized fluid goes to both sides of the "piston". The piston has no seals and just acts to locate the end of the rod. The rod causes the differential area and therefore thrust under pressure. Big holes in the "piston" allow fluid to change sides during motion.

Thanks for correcting my GUESS as I have no personal experience with a post driver.
