If all you've used is a marine GPS then I suspect you wouldn't know.

A quick check and I found a Garmin with street maps with a 7" screen for $240. Includes life time maps.

Model 2757LM, Garmin makes some good stuff but the better it is the more it costs, compared to the larger screens with higher resolutions and more features this 2757 is a bargain.

Perhaps you misunderstood. I DO NOT want cartoon maps. That seems to be all the large screen GPS devices will display.

The link to Bass Pro doesn't show any sample for me. All I see is a bunch of blank space on their page. Have you actually used the TOPO maps or you just did a search for it? I'd like to see your screen display.

I just checked the link to Basspro and thought maybe you did not click the select map window? I would recommend you go back and read the description. This map is based on the USGS paper maps and includes icons for points of interests. This map should have all the detail you would want in the US and territories. I would think this map would replace the existing cartoon map.

I don't know for certain but suspect that the simple cartoon maps are easier for most people to follow while driving a vehicle on the streets. When boating you have more time to look at the charts on the screen and the cursor simply moves across the chart depicting your location. Your trail with or without waypoints would be a fine line by comparison to the cartoon style map.

I will see about some screen shots from my old units.

There might be that very same Case IH tractor in my future when, or rather if it visits the Farm Science Review agricultural review in Ohio later this month. If it's there, I take some pictures.

Both display standard maps as you would find in a map book. Additionally, the hand held unit also displays topography on top of its displayed map view.

I've never seen a GPS unit that displays as the example CCWKen attached.

I've used the Nat Geo TOPO state series on both my home computer & hand held unit. Unfortunately, last time I checked they were no longer being produced and updates were no longer being provided. They were expensive - $50/state - but were excellent, as a tool, for both on & off road trip planning.

Our farmers use it. Seems there is always some screw up though. Missed rows, stuff like that.

I would rather have an automated Tesla, so I could watch movies while being transported to my (final) destination.

Apparently, you've been living under a rock. Your Garmin 60 CSX is over 10 years old and the Nav V is 14 years old. Both have been discontinued. Besides, I have a small screen GPS. I'm looking for a large screen GPS.

Google GPS. You'll get plenty of cartoon views. Try to find one (with large screen) that doesn't have that display.
