When Kubota fuel gauge hits "E", how much fuel is left?

I agree with the 8n comment that is what we had until the Kubotas came along.

No fuel gauge will provide 'absolute' accuracy (true amt in tank), and needle movement is not proportional to the amount of fuel used.

'Repeatable' accuracy can be counted on, ie: at a certain amt shown on the gauge it will take the same amt to top up every time.

This holds true for any gas/diesel tank with a float-type sender and has long been the case with car/truck/tractor gauges. One just has to learn what capacity each gauge mark truly represents if it matters that much. Expect it to be consistent for a particular make/model/tank, so what you discover is what others will too.

I pretty much know now after 50 hours what the usage on my Workmaster is along with my 4610 SU. The gauges on both those tractors stay on full for a good amount of time and then finally drop. When they both get close to empty I'll fill up and they won't hold 1/2 a tank. I would assume most manufacturers want their gauges calibrated to allow several hours run time after hitting empty. That is what most all of the tractors I have run seems to do. I did replace the fuel sending unit in my SU last year. The most accurate fuel gauge I have ever used is shortened yard stick. Still keep one with me.

Good question LD1.

Geared - and yes, it was light mowing. Actually tall weeds, but not thick. In deep grass fuel consumption is higher, but more like 1 gph - or maybe a tad higher.

I did some more mowing and then disced a couple of food plots this past weekend, and consumption was in that range as well. I wasn't cutting deep, and in fields that I worked in April, but worked for about 3 hours and took 3 gallons to top off - so 1 gph in this case. FYI - only about 20 minutes of that was mowing, the rest with disc. And again, to the OP's point, the gauge still showed Full+ when I stopped and added fuel.

Not an expert here, but I wonder if the turbo might increase consumption that much. Seems like a lot, but maybe with the combination of HST? Or maybe your mowing is in thicker stuff?

We run virtually all makes of pick-ups that the salesmen drive. One of the sales meetings someone was late because they ran out of gas and the conversation turned to when the low fuel light comes on! Not one make was consistent! lol

The least accurate, and least sophisticated mechanism on any motor vehicle. Expect 'repeatable' accuracy, not 'absolute' accuracy, so a long shot and likely to vary a bit even between two consecutive machines coming off the line.
