I posted these earlier today in my splitter build thread.

A couple of pics testing out the redesigned log lift and cylinder attachment points on the splitter today. Worked for an hour or so and got mebbe 3/4 of a cord split by the time it was all said and done:

Definitely nice to be able to use the grapple to set larger rounds right on the lift

Remember when we were young and stupid and could lift stuff like that onto a splitter? YIKES!

Moss,

The trouble is, I have some sycamore rounds here that are over 48" in diameter ... and I was actually considering lifting and splitting them ... until I went to WoodWeb and used their log weight calculator and decided that even 1/2 of 1250 lbs might be a little bit much for me to try and wrassle ...

Who needs a vertical splitter after seeing your setup? Very nice work.

I prefer to use my chainsaw to rip gigantic stuff into 1/4s. It's a lot easier than trying to wrestle it onto a splitter.

Thanks for your kind words ...

It's a work in progress ... but it's getting there.

Yeah, I think that will be the route I'll be taking ... even the quarters after being split in half are kinda weighty (200 lbs or so) ... but at that point they're on the table and not too bad.
