The vacuum switch is powered directly from the battery and is normally open.

That's not how a 3910 filter restriction vacuum switch is wired. It will self test with the oil pressure switch closed and key on when working properly. But this isn't germain to a 1925 other than the universal nature of the icon.

That's how mine works and it appears to be stock wiring. :confused3: (Of course, I don't know what's going on under the dash.)

So your saying that if the oil pressure switch is bad or there's no oil pressure and the oil light comes on, so will the AFR light? Mine doesn't work that way. Show me a diagram where the AFR light is ignition powered please. I show B+ on one side of the AFR switch.

I'm not going to take time to scan in a diagram and explain it to you. Think what you want, I'll sleep OK. Ford proofmeter idiot lamps have been wired the same way since the AF restriction indicators were added in about 1976 to the end of 30 series production in 1999/2000.

Found it! :ashamed: :eek:
Spent the last couple of days tracing wiring and found some "less than factory updates" behind the dash. I now see that there is a diode between the oil pressure switch circuit and the AFR lamp circuit. (For lamp test.) Or there is supposed to be. My apologies for confronting you on it and see that I will need to do some wiring fixes when I put the new gauge panel in. What a nest. Never trust the PO. :confused2:
