Awesome!!

I'd love to run one of those someday. Even just holding one would be awesome. I've run a 3120xp, but an 090 is just an incredible piece of machinery. Have you ever put yours on the scale full of gas and oil and wearing a big bar and chain? Gotta be pushing 45 pounds I'd imagine.

The 090 is not mine, and I do plan to weigh the power head, and the saw with the 84" bar mounted. It took both of us
(the owner and me) to lift the saw with bar and guide-frame.

We just did more milling on Sunday, this time with an 066 with big bore kit. That saw needed a
chain oil dispenser on the end of the bar, since it did not have a manual supplemental pump.

Just to compare, My Husky 2100 power head weighs 25#, and the McCulloch Super Pro 125c that
I have used here weighed in at 33#. I will post the weight when I get it.

What do you have planned for the slabs?

All are for sale. I plan to use a few of them for tables and other projects. I finished most of the
rip-cut milling last Sunday. 2 of the rip-cut slabs are 8' long, 52" wide and 3.5" thick.
Some of the cross-cut slabs are 6' across. They are a site to behold.

I will post more pix when I get better lighting.

Very cool. I lived near Eureka for a couple of years and the wood in that part of the world is beyond description. That old growth redwood is a truly special thing.

I'm jealous of those big saws, but if I owned one, it'd never get to see any real use. I just made a deal on my first real "big saw". I'm buying a mastermind-ported ms660. Still small compared to the old iron your using, but about as big as I'll ever need. My ms460 is nice, but I wanted something to leave my farm-boss touting friends speechless. Found a great deal on the 660, and couldn't say no. It'll probably wear a 8 pin 3/8 sprocket and a 20 or 25" bar most of the time. Still need to find a 36" for the occasional big chunk that comes my way.

Could use some advise in purchasing a good trim saw. A smaller, lighter saw
would come in handy. Good brand, good model??

Nothing but good things to say about my Echo top handle... keep it in my truck ready to go and it has never made a mess leaking oil/fuel...

I have the 14" bar...

A few years back a 30+ inch diameter tree fell across the road and I was able to make a couple of cuts to leverage it off the pavement...

Nice! What kind of saw did you use?
I used my mighty 42 cc Poulan pro, with a new chain, one of these days I'll buy a real saw

Dolmar 421 FTW!!

I got one this spring. It's not the lightest 42cc, but it cuts like a 50cc saw. It's a pro-type saw, with a split magnesium case. Great anti-vibe. Easy starting. Laughably easy starting, actually. Competes with the Stihl 241cm. The Stihl is a bit nicer probably, but costs $200 more. The Dolmar is very very well regarded on arboristsite and opeforum. Should run you about $300-350. Worth every penny.

Don't feel bad. I've been using my factory reconditioned PP 42cc 18" saw for about 7 years. I cut 6 about cords per year. They are on sale at Rural King for $99 this week!

It is under-powered for an 18" saw. Since most of the stuff I cut is 14" and under, though, its perfect.

For a limbing saw, its nice in that it has a long reach so you don't have to move around as much.
