I have a Husky 353 and a 372XP that do the most of my work. I've got a little Stihl that I use for small jobs. The 353 is a far superior saw but I don't like carrying a 51 cc saw to cut 2" or less limbs. I do a lot of limbing with an axe. My 353 was a similar $$$ saw and weighs less, but it will out cut a farm boss. I bought the 372 XP 2 years ago. The 353 has put in 15 or more years of service and still going strong. I was wanting a 555 XP until I realized the specs were only marginally better than my 353. A buddy has a top handle saw, It would be alright in a bucket truck, but I don't like it while standing on the ground. I'm not a big Stihl fan. There was a time I got both of my Husqvarnas stuck and had to use a Stihl to cut them free. Usually I use a tractor to unpinch my saws, but I didn't have that either.

Have a CS-400 Echo with an 18" bar. Nice smaller saw. Alittle under powered but you just have to hold it back. Can't let it cut as hard as it wants.

Looking for a 24" bar saw. Thinking about a MS391 STIHL. Never owned a STIHL though. If I do then the Echo with probably drop to a 16" bar.

Could use some advise in purchasing a good trim saw. A smaller, lighter saw
would come in handy. Good brand, good model??
What is your budget?

I looked pretty hard at that Echo when I bought my Dolmar. Supposed to be a darned good saw after you pull the carb limiters, do a muffler mod, and a retune. Apparently Echos are notoriously lean from the factory. I was bummed that I couldn't get one with a 16" bar. Had to buy it with the 18, then buy another bar.

Not trying to start a disagreement here, but I spoke with a dealer who sells and runs both Dolmar and Echo. Between the two, Dolmar was the winner hands down, according to him.

Edited to add:
That dealer's name is Nate. His shop is at performanceoutdoorequipment.com . Great guy to deal with. He can sell you an echo or Dolmar for a great price shipped to your door. Very helpful over the phone with questions or repair advice. Stand up guy.

Spent about an hour or so last night doing some more splitting.

I've probably got less than 10% of the red oak I have here split ... it's going to need to season for a year at least so I figured I'd try to get that done first. Still have some large red oak logs that need bucked into rounds from the last delivery.

I have a Husqvarna 540xp top handle. Once you get the hang of how to tighten the chain its a good saw. I have a Stihl 361 that I use for my big stuff.

Not sure what replaced it, but I've had pretty good success with a Stihl MS192-c (MS 192 C-E Chainsaw - Occasional Use Powerful Chainsaw | STIHL USA). Bought several years ago for the wife because it's easy to start (in theory). Recently in the shop to replace part of the chain oiler plumbing, but that's the only time it's been off-property.

I've got a 562XP and it's a killer firewood saw. Seems hit or miss on these things, some last, some, like mine, don't: I killed mine bucking a big cottonwood (44"*)- was running it non-stop in a snow storm of wood chips; got four years out of it; I was figuring the rest of my life :( Stock they come with 20" bars; I put on an 18" and I can use that to walk right down the wood to make proper length cuts. Fast, fast, fast...

* The mathematically astute reader will note that my bar is only 18"- I was obviously buried (going from two sides); some of the last few big rounds I couldn't quite cut through and ended up using my tractor to finish them off.

I just made a deal on my first real "big saw". I'm buying a mastermind-ported
ms660.

The MS660 (066) is a very popular big saw, which is 92cc stock. Many used ones out there have the bigger
piston/jug, which brings them up to 95cc or so. Maybe a bit more. If you don't have a use for these
big saws, NOT exercising them now and then is not good for them.

For milling, I really like the older big saws, preferably from the 80s, as they have supplemental manual
oil pumps built in. Of course, who would not want an MS880 or 3120xp?
