I think it's way too much blade. I have a heavy 8' on a larger tractor and it's plenty.
For dirt you're barely going to scratch the surface. For snow you will have no problem pulling a load straight with it, angle the blade and it's going to tell the front wheels of the tractor where to go.
I'd look for a more appropriate blade. It's going to be about the same price anyway.
Ouch. It would struggle to bring half that at a Farm Sale here.

For the most part it would struggle at that price close to me as well. Most with a Cat 2/3 need would already have one. But realistically if he can modify it to work with his tractor he would be saving money compared to buying new.

If cutting it down a bit is an option look at making the pieces that are cut off into sides for it then once HYD is added with quickly attached or removed sides you will find a lot less use fro your box blade. Fab up some good adjustable trail wheels for it and it will serve almost any need.
Curious if the weight is known on the unit?
