Just replaced the water pump on this beast tractor and a couple of questions has arisen before mounting the clutch assembly.

On the innermost pulley, is there only a pin half the length of the splined groove (or am I missing half)?

Also, what's the recommended thread engagement on the three spring-backed bolts holding the clutch assembly?

Thanks in advance!

Additionally, what's a good way to hold the crankshaft axle while torquing down the nut (I don't have a torque wrench)?

Might be a naming difference here, but have attached the PTO clutch schematic from jdparts that may help.

Thanks.

I see they call it shaft key, and just by judging from the drawing it looks roughly a third longer than what I have. Nothing on level of engagement on the the clutch bolts, tho?

I don't have the tractor you are working on so I can't give any detailed info, however typically, thread engagement only needs to be equal to the thickness of the bolt. So if its a 3/8" diameter bolt (10MM for you), then you only need to engage the threads 10mm.

One method is to put a piece of rope in one of the cylinders with the piston down, then when the piston meets the rope it stops. Make sure the rope is long enough so it does not get lost in the cylinder.

Thanks for the pointers, Richard. That's what I figured I would do. Would you happen to know the recommended bolt torque for the PTO?

I have a PDF of the Deere technical manual that you're welcome to, if wanted, shoot me your email

NO, but if you get the manual from joec and it doesn't have the torque values, if you know the bolt diameter then there are charts that you can look up for typical bolt torque value.
