When are 2017 GM and Rams coming out?

Many people buy Dodge pickups simply for the Cummins engine. Without the Cummins engine on the Doge HD trucks there will certainly be buyers who look elsewhere.

GM and Ford diesel engines do not and will likely never have the reputation of Cummins engines. The only thing comparable would be if you could get a CAT diesel in a GM or Ford. That would be tempting.

I long for the day when we can buy 3/4T and up trucks like new OTR semi tractors. Glider kit of your cab choice then add the powertrain component at a time of any brand.

Agreed. I'm an owner of a 2012 RAM 1 ton. After coming from Fords 6.0 diesel the cummins was the tipping point in the decision. Without it I'd be driving a duramax.

I find it funny when you ask diesel truck drivers what they drive.

The Ram owner says 'I drive a Cummins.'
The Chevy/GMC owner says 'I drive a Duramax.'
The Ford owner says 'I drive a Super Duty with a PowerStroke.'

GM must have done something to the Allison, to beef it up to support the power output of the new trucks. The allison could have never done this in it's current set-up. They had to catch up and it looks like they did...445 hp and 910 ft/lbs.

CAT quit making on-road engines in 2010 and instead started marketing a truck designed by CAT but powered and built by Navistar. This year CAT pulled the plug on the truck and Navistar is now taking over the assembly of Chevy Express and GMC Savanna vans.

Just read the recent news from GM on the HD trucks and it appears that the 2017 HDs with the new 6.6L Duramax will not appear until early 2017 ! Chevrolet Sets GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ Title Wow that seems late to me which I read as something isn't quite ready.....engine or transmission? Why would a manufacturer leave a 4-5 month gap in new production?
