Related to telephones... one of my contractor friends is deaf... happened late in life from a tumor... he does everything with his TTY/TDD machine... having a record of what was said has proved invaluable many times.

His first one was like a attache case... where the handset would fit into rubber cuffs.

Acoustic coupler. It would fit any G style handset. Only trouble is nowadays how many phones still have G style handsets. Some, but not too many.

I saw a G style handset at a thrift store that plugged into a cell phone. I almost bought it. Don't know why.

I think you would have better quality sound and greater privacy.

Could I get one with a rotary dial?

I'd like to see an "old time" style desk phone, w/ handset and ROTARY dial (not the blasted push buttons) that I could stick my cell phone in and also use as a charger

Sweetie bought me this one a couple of years ago for my birthday. It was mostly a joke, but I use it quite a bit. If I end up on a long conference call on my cell instead of my VOIP with headset, this thing is a lot more comfortable to hold on my shoulder than the actual cell phone. Plus, I can keep the phone next to me to easily mute/unmute me on the call.

I was going to snap a picture of it plugged into my phone... and then realized that I needed the phone to snap the pic! I actually plugged it in before I realized that!:confused2: It's time for more coffee!!:laughing:

You guys talking about all of your old telephony equipment still in use reminds me of a local business that sells old computer hardware components. Mostly drives, memory, motherboards, peripherals, etc. for old mini/mainframes. He does one heck of a business - a lot of which comes from government entities that are still running antiquated equipment.

Acoustic coupled modems now, those were the days. They really screamed along, streaming data at a whopping 300 baud. LOL
