No... just at the reception desk with the Nortel phone and the second attached box of all the extensions... never suppose to ring more than 3 times without being answered...

On rare occasions I have had phone duty... a steady flow is good... not so good is when I have so many coming in I forget who is who...

That "box" is called a dss-blf. Direct Station Selection-Busy Lamp Field. See now you too know a useless bit of telephone trivia from a bygone era.:)

I thought on Nortel it's a Enhanced CAP/ KIM but that's probably only on the MICS/CICS

I am making guesses here, but in a Hospital his size, I am assuming he has either and Option 61 or Option 81 and the DSS would probably be a DSS 9000... Again just guesses unless he posts some pictures.:)

Ahh yes, the 2250 console and old DSS 9000 add on. What a POS that thing was. He could however have a digital set with add on modules. Who knows. But a Hospital probably has a real console.

When they built the new 6 operating room Surgery Center wing in 1995 this is the system that was installed as a stand alone from the main hospital.

In many ways it is totally separate... some has to do with how Hospitals and Surgery Centers are structured...

I started in 1991 and very much a part of the Surgery Center build for over a year... when it was completed I was offered facilities since no one knew it better than I did... over the years there have been mergers and acquisitions... and somehow I'm still here.

The last Hospital I installed was close to 1500 lines. A Meridian Option 61. It had 3 PRI's for trunks, and a 4th for communications with a 3rd party in house nurse radio/phone system.
