Two months ago I sold my Bobcat CT225. It was a great tractor, but just a bit underpowered. After a lot of going back and forth about what I really needed/wanted, I pulled the trigger this afternoon. Arriving next week after Gary and the fellows at West End Sales get everything put together, is my new Kioti CK4010HST.

I loved the size of my Bobcat, it was easy to get in and out of the woods, but like I said, slightly underpowered. The CK4010 has a similar size footprint but can lift more and I am going from 19hp at the PTO to 33.5. I'm looking forward to getting the most out of my bush hog now.

I started to get a backhoe with it, but realistically, I would hardly use it and for the additional $6750, I can rent an excavator a whole bunch of times. Besides, I got to spend that money on the following:
telescopic lower link arms (it's no longer standard on the new CK series)
2 rear remotes and top and tilt cylinders.
electric over hydraulic 3rd function
root grapple
5' Bush Hog box blade
5' Bush Hog rotary cutter
6' Bush Hog finish mower
18' equipment trailer

Yeah, I'm looking forward to next week.:licking:

Congrats! Sounds like you made quite a haul on all that equipment. Pics upon delivery, please.

A a ct225 owner, I know what you mean. I have been getting the itch for a bigger tractor as well. I bet you will be bushoging uphill in high gear with that new one.

Hello Greg, I am also leaning to the CK4010HST with the loader, backhoe, forks and root grapple bucket. I知 getting the rear remotes for sure for the root grapple bucket. I love the operator station on the Kioti and is one of the strong selling point for me. The position of the loader controls is the best. Mahindra fell way short on this.

Tell me about the Telescopic lower link arms. Cost? purpose? What is the Electric over Hydraulic 3rd function?

I have a MF GC2310 TLB (selling it right now). When we got it, wifey said we壇 never use the BH but as we have found, it is used almost as much as the Front loader. Our ground is so tuff, a pick ax will bounce. What a joy to use the BH to bust up and dig.

Did you get a cruise control? Front grill guard? Trying to decide if it痴 worth it. The LS I知 also considering has that as standard. Anyway, excitement is in the air.
BTW have you heard of Cool Tops? The LS dealer showed them to me this week. Basically is a fiberglass roof with a built in fan (15 to 20 inch) above the seat. Blows down and really cools the air.

Greg

The electric over hyd. 3rd function is just an electronically operated valve for the grapple. It's a thumb switch on the loader joystick...makes things a breeze to operate. I had the telescoping lower links on my Bobcat...kinda got spoiled. It makes it a good bit easier to hook up implements. No need to be exact, just get it close, extend the links to hook up, then raise up and they snap back in place. I think they were in the $300 range.

No cruise control...I found I hardly used it on the Bobcat. I did get a grill guard. And as for the top and tilt...I'm not sure how I ever managed without it. The 4010 has a similar footprint as my Bobcat CT225 had, but you can tell the difference in the horsepower. Only 12 hours thus far, but really pleased.

I like the idea of the Cool Top. I'll have to check it out!

Cheers!

Unless you are going to buy, install and use a Quick Hitch and make sure all of your implements match the quick hitch, then the telescoping lower links and sway bars are a great aid to hooking up a 3pt. You will discover this on your own. The solid lower links are a PITA to hook up to implements. They will increase your swear word vocabulary.

The only way to hook up implements it to precisely move the tractor or to "horse" around the implement to match the tractor's lower links. Some keep a crowbar or a 2x4 handy to move their implements around or place their implements on roll around dolly's. But with Telescoping lower links and sway bars, you just back the tractor in close to the pins on the implement and get off and extend the lower links to match the pins, lift the implement, and the links will snap back in automatically due to gravity forces.

Thanks k0ua. Great info. Don’t know I’ll ever need them but for the cost difference, I think I’ll order those with my new machine.

You'll use them. I promise.

One thing folks haven't mentioned though is that after extending the links to hook up an implement it is important to insure that the links click back into the normal position. You won't be able to do this by hand. I tend to simply back the implement gently (GENTLY!!) into a tree or very solid wall. Should hear a click and see them reseat. You can look over your shoulder and see if the links have seated in the normal position so no reason to dismount.

Most of the time if you will raise the implement fully up there is enough angle so that gravity will cause the implement to "run down hill" and push the extended link in. Of course if your top link is set out too long and the implement does not have enough angle, then that wont work.

I shouldn't have implied that one needs to back the implement into a solid object every time. However with certain implements (eg my flail) I do. No biggie. It's just part of the routine.
