PLEASE HELP: Can't Start Yanmar YM2000 after Fuel Filter Replacement

Hello.
Sometimes, when air is inside injectors, high-pressure diesel pump only compresses/decompresses that air there. It is not possible to eliminate that air by opening the fuel lines at injector. You need only time. Should be no problem.
And about the fuel lines at injectors. They are thick-walled tubes, donエt bend them or do it carefully. If hey are at the wrong angle, then there is diesel leakage and you cannot start the engine. Clean the surrounding to see that. Loosening a nut at tube by one or two turns is usually enough to remove the air.

treedawg, any luck?

What Norm said has always worked for me, and I've seen that technique recommended here by a long term dealer who said it always worked for him. The dealer said there is never a need to open the high pressure lines to the injectors on these models, fuel under pressure will force any air out through the injectors.

Did you check the O-Ring on the Filter Bowl. Could be sucking air from there. Make sure it's in place. I know the first time I removed my FF-Bowl mine fell out and broke it was so dry rotted. Go back and redo and check everything.

That is worth a shot... A bit of fresh diesel rubbed on the O-ring & then re-attach the fuel filter.

Oh, and when you have it off, check that the manufacturer didn't put some sort of clear plastic 'dust cover' inside the filter... something that needs to be removed?

Hey, ya never know. :confused3:

I have not had an opportunity to mess with it since I made this post.

I've had a manager on vacation at my business all week so I'll be pulling double time for the next 10 days straight.

I will say I was terribly frustrated with the little tractor Saturday night. I've fiddled with diesel equipment for a long time and NEVER had so much trouble cranking one after changing out the fuel filter especially when I remember to refill the fuel bowl before attempting to restart.

Your experience is unusual. Generally opening the first bleeder screw is all it takes to refill the filter bowl, you don't need to handle a nearly-full bowl. In fact on my little YM186D with the loader pedestal and loader valve hoses hiding the bowl, I think it would be impossible to put the bowl in place with it filled. I had a difficult time changing the filter recently. I probably should have detached the control hoses at the quick-connects just to get my hand in there.

I guess the air must have worked it's way out out of the fuel system if that's even possible.....

Started pretty easy Saturday morning.
