Killing hornets/wasps

As for setting the traps, I just go extra and put them out using memory as a guide from previous years. Take notes.

It also pays to check around the house for cracks. I just repaired the edge of the roof when the 2x6's suffered water damage and warped away from the house. Good lord, I found like 15 active nests among many more old nests! I sprayed, repaired, added a drip edge and caulked every nook & cranny before priming & reinstalling gutters.

Next day I went to try to find exactly where the nest was so I could pour gas on it that night , but a skunk had gotten to it first & destroyed the nest, so I didn't get the chance to gas the nest. Over the next few weeks I found half a dozen or more nests that little guy had destroyed for me.

I have heard skunks love to eat YJs. So, if you put some skunk bait near the nest, then they may
dig out the nest for you. Maybe a piece of meat?

Never tried it. I will move my trap to a different location next spring.

For above ground nests at night I use WD40

In ground at night I use gasoline and cover with an inverted Pyrex bowl... this way I can track activity.

I've found that in an emergency WD40 squirted on a wasp sting acts very quicklly to stop it hurting. Wonderful stuff that WD40.

WD40 is also good for curing bait herring for halibut fishing, thousands of uses for the stuff:D

for the last two days honey bees have taken over my humming bird feeders, the first day there were so many I couldn't even see the bottom of the feeder.

The spray foam usually works pretty well, I forget the brand I've used, but the buggers are dead before they hit the ground.
The residue it leaves prevents them from rebuilding in that spot.

I've also used a shop vac when one built in an area I couldn't spray (outdoor electrical box).

Hi all.
Boric Acid for bee control. No one mentioned in discussion. In past a exterminator used a sprayer that had a sprayer abut 20 foot long. We were way away from angry bee when spraying. His bee killer had powder in it. I guess for purpose of tracking to nest. Also used for carpenter ants.
Does anyone know if it boric acid or something else?

Hi all.....I have reread all the posts here. I sprayed a lot of hornet spray. I tried to find my exterminator who has retired. no luck yet. The hornets I have bored
hole in siding of house . I suspect they have a nest deep in wall. Spray kills them who are there at spraying time. But the ones in wall or out or nest time of spraying don't get hurt at all. Thats why I'm looking for a poison that tracks back to nest.

So It's TSC and Lowes I go . Ace hardware was a strike out. I didn't try WD40 as per some of suggestions. Will try next if new stuff doesn't work.

Any ideas appreciated. Searching about killing hornets yields all ads and no info.

Have a good evening........Coffeeman
