Are you sure about that? That seems like a short term gain long term pain solution. Would attract dust horribly and I don't know what it would do to the paint but it may not be good.

I'm positive, or I wouldn't use it on my Thunderbird. You just have to follow the instructions. I work in small areas at a time. You spray it on, and immediately begin wiping it off with a clean cloth. I use a couple of soft clean cloths for the job. You do not want to let the product dry before wiping and buffing. And quite the contrary about attracting dust. This is also a good way to treat your vehicles' windshield after thoroughly washing.

Hmmm... interesting. I thought there might be an issue with paint but worth considering. I haven't waxed mine ever... three years old. Stored outside but undercover open to the sides.

Sounds like a easy alternative to waxing but from what I've read is it's much different and only lasts a short period of time compared to waxing. I knew there had to be a reason it was not marketed for automotive use.

Regular polish actually removes material and this is just spraying a light coating of oil on the paint, not removing material or polishing in the typical sense.

You are correct. Polish and wax are different substances. I see I've derailed the thread because he didn't polish the top, he waxed it. Now, why doesn't polish rhyme with Polish?

That's one of the big reasons I was great at math and science, but sucked at english. Still does not make much sense the way they spell/pronounce things .... I did polish the wax though... [[ :) ]]

One thing is for sure, you should never ever take up off roading. You have to have a healthy disregard for sheet metal if you offroad, especially rock crawling. I used to laugh at the newbies who'd wax their rig then we'd take em off road and run them through the brush and brambles for some pinstriping by brush then let them smash a door or quarter panel into a tree or boulder. Pretty soon you develop an immunity to body damage and look at it as battle scars and something to regard. Everything is legit except body damage received on the pavement, all trail damage stays although I pull most of mine out.

Here's my friends truck before it was really bad. I don't think anyone would bother waxing this thing. He called it The Raisin because every panel on it looked like the skin of a raisin, even the hood and the top of the cab.

Later on he removed the body altogether and turned it into a buggy build. I hated seeing The Raisin go.

Be careful. These things have a tendency not to do well when wet. For one thing they don't use weather pack connectors but cheap Amphenol types made for indoor use that are open to the elements. For sure, not what you'd expect to find on a tractor.
My 6520 has been outside for 9 years and no problems. I wash it off with it idleling.

Brother Jerry,
Clear your garage out. I'm bringing the Big RED Beast up for a waxing. It doesn't need it, but I gotta keep up with you.:D I repainted a turn indicator lamp mount on the right fender and you can't tell the old paint from the new paint. That is pretty good after 9 years outside!:cool2:
hugs, Brandi

I gave up on you making me a al lumen ium cab for my 5035, so I bought another tractor. I was trying to keep up with all your posts this spring/summer and all the water problems you folks were having down there. I always thought of Texas as being sandy, with cow pies all over the place. Did not know you had all that clay. Thanks for educating me [ or trying to ] Sis. I hope you are getting things back to normal. I have lots of wax left...... :)
