Start with the wire brush, you want it as smooth as possible. Also when you finish using it coat the blades ( mold boards and shares ) with grease or heavy wax to prevent rust from reforming.

The link that Jeff posted is a great resource for learning about setting up and using a moldboard plow.

Have you ever adjusted/pulled a Moldboard Plow? There is nothing intuitive about plow technique.

Plowing is an advanced art. You are unlikely to achieve satisfactory results without coaching or a lot of reading about plows here.

I agree and with some of the pictures I seen on here, there's a lot of other folks that could use a few lessons.

I agree and I'm one of those people you speak of.

But at some point you just have to do it and learn though. While my first time plowing wasn't picturesque, it did the job. I learned a lot. I read everything I could find in forums and tutorials and I still messed up my plow adjustments. Luckily it wasn't bad enough that it couldn't be fixed by letting the dirt sit and then hitting it with the tiller.

Learning occurred. Sometimes you just gotta go out and do it.

Absolutely agree. Sometimes the best experience is bought and paid for with your own sweat.

The old tractors had adjustable wheel widths. We always ran the rear wheel in the furrow on the smaller plows, 4 bottoms or less.

My limited experience puts me in full agreement. I've used a moldboard plow and a disc plow and never been pleased with the result. The land was so rough after plowing that it was a real pain disking and harrowing it smooth again. The plowed field in the photo is a thing off beauty.

Last time I checked, there was a demo on setting up a moldboard plow at the Everything Attachments web site.

Every time I plow I get good at it about the time that I am done.
