In any case, in my opinion the telescoping links and telescoping sway bars are worth their extra cost.
They came standard on my tractor.:)

Now if you are going to go with full quick hitch then of course they don't matter, but if you want the ultimate flexibility with your quick hitch you are going to want Top-N-Tilt so that you can always hook up to the pins and have your top hook grab the top pin no matter if the implement has settled or you parked it on uneven ground. If you don't understand what I just said, you soon will. :)

And we haven't even touched on the joys and intricacies of hooking up the PTO..:laughing: Much to learn grasshopper.

Agree that hydraulic topping lift is great. I forget how much of a pain the manual one was on my CK.

As for hooking up the PTO shaft, I always start with a firm locker room lecture to the dam thing, kick it a few times, hit it with some grease and then have at it. I think an updated version of the "stubborn as a mule" phrase might be "stubborn as a PTO".

My LS came with telescoping lower links. I'll stand in line with the notion that you will definitely use them ... and maybe even wonder how you ever lived without them. ;)

Mindset and grease are necessary but what is really missing is the ability to easily turn either the tractor shaft or the PTO tube in order to easily line up the @#$%^&!! splines. The tractor side will typically rotate easily but only about ?half an inch before it stops hard. The implement side tube won't rotate at all if it is connected to a heavy gearbox/mower/flail etc. Somebody needs to invent a tool to give leverage to cause either one or the other to rotate while you are trying to push the linkage on. A third hand would be quite useful. Haven't seen one of those for sale.

Lot of guys use a big long screwdriver or some other slim prybar in the PTO yoke to get it lined up. I can spin my little gearbox/jumper-blades by hand without tools. But then again I am a real he-man. *please note the first liar usually doesn't have a chance.:D

I put an over riding clutch on the PTO shaft 15 years ago to solve that issue.
Makes it SO much easier to hook up the PTO shaft

Yeah but you don't have HST and most of us do. Agree your solution is perfect for gear.

My gear tractor has an independent PTO. So there is a PTO brake that will not let the PTO shaft turn by hand.
How is that any different from the HST units with independent PTO ?
The over run clutch added to the end of the PTO shaft will let me turn it one way to line up the PTO shaft at hookup.
No different than the HST models.

1) Don't know. I presumed that your DK was like my older CK which I thought had an independent PTO.
2) HST is irrelevant, what I should have said that my PTO is electrohydraulically controlled so I don't see how an over riding clutch can be installed.
