1) HST is irrelevant, what I should have said that my PTO is electrohydraulically controlled so I don't see how an over riding clutch can be installed.
So is mine.
This over run clutch simply goes on the tractors PTO shaft. Locks one direction and spins free the other.

It is just like a dog clutch Island. It has "dogs" or catches that allow it to be driven from the tractor side but when the implement tries to over run the tractor side it ratchets and allows the momentum of the implement to be dissipated . Their original purpose was for the old 8n and other tractors that people were having trouble of a PTO driven implement pushing the tractor thru a fence or over a cliff when the operator would push in the main clutch and even press on the brakes, the stored flywheel energy in the cutter blades and rotating mass would keep on pushing the tractor thru the fence by driving its wheels with enough power that the brakes would not be able to hold it back.

But with this over running clutch that energy is harmlessly dissipated over time by spinning down. Of course they make a ratcheting clicking sound as it spins down as the "dogs" over run.

Vince is using it for a different purpose, so that he can grasp the now extended tractor side PTO shaft and rotate the shaft in one direction to assist with his purpose of alignment with an equipment side PTO shaft he cannot easily turn by hand.

Yes, and it does make PTO shaft hookup a whole lot easier. (it does add a few inches to the PTO stub, so my PTO shafts are cut for that).
Saves wear on the PTO brake also when spinning down the brush mower, Etc.
