What fuel mileage do you get in your 3/4 or 1 ton diesel? Which brand is best?

Mine is crew cab short box, wanted the 8 footer, but 6-speed was more important. Got the manual transfer case too

Hard enough parking this one, 8 foot crew would be two parking spots instead of 1.5 lol.

8 footer got the bigger fuel tank as well....that would be nice.

The larger tank is nice, except when you have to pay to fill it.

My oil changes on my Ford's are $100 if done myself.

4 gallons of oil @ $20 per gallon and the filter is $20. I change the air filter every 15K and the Fuel filters every 30K

Actually, I have had 2 6.0's, a 04 and a 06. Both SRW 4x4 3.73 gears. Only issue with both and about 200,000 miles of total miles was a bad fuel gauge on the 06.

I have about a dozen friends with them. EGR valves and a few other items is all. Not a one has had a head gasket or any of the other stories.

I have had 4 diesels. A 99 Ford F350 7.3, a 04 Ford F250 6.0, a 05 GMC 3500 Dmax 6.6, and my current 06 Ford F350.
Only problem child was the Dmax.

The gas motors of today are so much better.

My 2012 Eco Boost has about the same a abilities as my 99 F350.

The new gas offerings in the 3/4 ton and up get nearly the same MPG gor about 10K less and will not cost you a arm and a leg to maintain.

i wouldnt be concerned about resale value on a 6spd/cummins dodge. the "diesel bros" will gobble it right up for a pretty penny

Did not buy the truck to get 40 mpg,s. Its better than 12 mpg you were getting with the 5.9 motor.Thank god 87 octane gas is only $2.24 gallon.Laffin..

I have a 7.3 auto, love the combination. Also hope it goes for enough years that the current offerings are cheap enough that I can buy one.

My overhead says 17.8 over the past 120K miles. I've manually checked it empty, 15.5. I've manually checked it loaded, 24K, 10.7.

Glad to hear it.I use to pay $4.69 a gal. for diesel when I owned my 2004 Ram so you will not hear me whining about a $3.50.

08 Dodge Ram, 6.7 cummins, 4.10 gears. Emissions fell off at 50,000. 19 mpg hwy in summer. About 17 in winter. EFI tuned. 110,000 miles, almost 9 years old and should last another 10 easily. Best truck I have ever owned. I would also look at gas very hard with improvements made in past 5 years. Unless you are towing heavy often. Eddie.

I'm not whining just filled up this AM for 30.00! Don't drive pick ups daily anymore there just for plowing and towing my tractor or hauling woodwith my 2500HD.
