In this environment it's very common to see an owner use his tractor at a level unimaginable by others. It's also common for posters to claim no issues with theirs. Is it possible that maybe the usage and stress levels placed on the two tractors might be significantly different?? Every machine has it's limits. When reached is it the tractor's fault or the operator?? That question cannot be argued friends. This has been a great thread. A lot of information has been exchanged. I don't see any of it as brand bashing. You could change the first two words of this thread title to anything you want and the results would be the same. The machine failed. If you can show me a pic of the owner's manual page that says this tractor cannot be used to run this attachment, I will recant. :)

YES! Im not saying Kioti is junk or anything else. I would even buy another smaller one for around the house if the price is right. I wouldn't however use it for commercial use or push it to its limits often or long and i think it would be just fine. The only compacts i would ever consider is Deere, kubota and kioti, in that order!
I have had a LOT of different tractors, both compact and utility over the years. I truly did love the DK55 till it did this, it was quiet, smooth and very heavy built for a asian tractor. It had many things i think are built better than the deere, such as the rear draw bar for sure, rear 3pt and a few other things....

Thats retarded..:laughing: Back in the 2000 Yanmar BUILT the small tractors completely for john deere up to the 2001 deere 4100 and all motors up to 35hp. The tractors were built to deere specs by yanmar.. The motors were deere spec, like i said to 32 or 35hp. ( pre 2002) after that deere built the tractors mainly in GA and Yanmar started supping motors for the larger frames even..
John Deere has never cloned ANY Yanmar motors EVER!! Yanmar builds one of the worlds best small diesels.

The Kioti DK55s engine is a CARBON COPY of a Kubota V2203, The only difference being the water pump, bell housing and flywheel, and they are stll interchangeable.
Same bore, same stroke, same injection pump, head, block, crank, pistons, manifolds on and on.....

I thought it was very profound.:D

When John deere sues Yanmar like Kubota sued Kioti, i will agree with you..Kubota and Kioti have NOTHING to do with each other, other then kioti copying kubota unlawfully.

Show me some proff.

Heres a little info for you....

In the Early Days....
In the early 1980s Kubota from Japan and Daedong from Korea teamed up to build what is known as the Kubota “02″ series of tractors, namely the L1802, L2002, L2402, L2602 and L2802. It was a joint venture with Daedong manufacturing the transmission and Kubota providing its experience with the engine mechanics and other components. Interestingly, Daedong provided the design and fabricated the body sheet metal for these tractors which gives them their own distinctive look – no other Kubota looks like these tractors do. Despite the team effort, the “02″ tractors are still largely Kubotas with exception of their transmissions which means many parts for them are still available today. Production of these tractors lasted from the early 1980s, peaked in 1983 and then tapered off.

Lawsuits and Bad Blood
It is no secret that a Kioti tractor, with its orange coloring scheme, similar hood shape and decal lettering look an awful lot like a Kubota. Their names even start with the same letter, K! It seems that just about the only thing Daedong didn’t do was call their tractor a Kiboti. In either case, the bad blood started shortly after their relationship together in the early to mid 1980s. Kubota suspected its partner of stealing engineering secrets and repurposing them for its Daedong’s own gain, a big no-no. The aggression spilled over in late 2002 when Kubota filed a lawsuit against Kioti in a California district court. Kubota felt its trademark coloring and hood designs were being infringed upon and also sought to clear the air regarding confusion between Kubota and Kioti – there were strictly not one in the same.

A Settlement is Reached
The lawsuit dragged on for 5 years until August 2007 when a press release issued by both companies stated that the matter had been resolved – the amount of the settlement undisclosed. It is interesting to note however that Kioti still relies heavily on its orange color scheme much like Kubota and its hood designs and decals also look similar, so one can only speculate on what sort of agreement the two companies came to.
