Then why are you here wasting everyone's time? You already have the manual and you already have your answer. If synthetic is not in the manual, then you cannot use it without violating your warranty, per your "I'm an nurse" logic.

What a Ignorant, Conceited and Self Righteous response to someone trying to seek help. You must be proud to belittle someone who who doesn't know a lot about tractors asking for help.

Sorry but I'm with FTG-05 on this one. I've thought the same thing just wasn't ready to say it yet. I guess I'm conceited and self righteous too.

The OP has been given a ton of advice and as far as we know hasn't acted on it. The advice has for the most part been good too. I had kind of said to myself that with the attitude that the OP displays with his "I'm a nurse" statement, we as a group aren't going to be able to do too much for him.

I apologize if this sounds harsh but that's the way I see it.

Yes ^^^^.

I am assuming Murse is a male nurse? LOL.

I know this is a dead horse. My Dad is in the hospital and every time they give him his medicine he suffers painful muscle spasms in his legs. The doctor is asked about this tortuous side affect so she opens up the computer. No, that is not a reported side effect. Medicine is stopped and leg spasms go away. That database the doctor and nurse refer to is not infallible or all inclusive, it is just most likely. If computer databases were the primary diagnostic tool then we would not need doctors or nurses? This refers back to nurse who commented on database he refers to when doing medicine.

Some manuals refer to oils you cannot even buy anymore. Maybe not in this discussion.

I probably missed it, if someone did mention the simple fact that if you check the compatibility and recommendations on the oil label and that product says it meets or exceeds manufacturers specifications for diesel engine service for their engines your good to go.
The same applies to all lubrication products gear, hydraulic oils and greases, read the label!!

never seen so many trolls before looking for someone to argue with. You would thinks this is Lord of the Rings Forum. The newbie comment? Learned how to drive a Super C and a 8N with I was around 14years old. I have drove many other tractors of different sizes. I drove a logging skidder one summer before I went to nursing school. I have using my neighbors m5400 for the last 3yrs when I need to move dirt or drag tree I cut down. I am more mechanically incline than he is so made a deal with him, I did all maintenance on his tractor if it needed it and brought it back topped off with diesel. His did not have quick attach, just a bucket and I got tired of manhandling limbs and stuff, so I decided it get my own with a grapple. Here I am now.
JIMRB you don't know me or my skill set as a nurse. I hope these things never happen to you or your family but the try google how to get an iv on baby just born that is 10wks premature with cord still attached hanging on to life, Google what to do with a patient has a heart rate in 170's and they are looking at you to keep them alive, Google how to take care of a 5yr old hit by a car that the mother walks in puts their child in your arms and their lower leg is broken and the only thing holding the foot on is tendon and skin and some of the bone is not even there, Google how manage a patient with a stab wound to the abdomen with part of there intestines hanging out. See how google works out of you.

Why I didn't respond to a lot of your advice/opinions and tell you how smart you are? I didn't ask for it. I guess some of you got your feelings hurt because I did not tell you how smart you are. Do you as a grown man really need praise to feel good about your self. I ask about royal purple oil not what weight to use. That was my question. I guess most of your have not read your manuals when you comment about when using synthetic when it does not call for it. Mine does not say to use dino or synthetic just CJ-4 in either SAE30 , 10W-30, or 15W40. I bet you if could find oil made from hog fat that met those requirements that it would work. I choose to use synthetic. Am I going to argue with anyone about this? NO. This ends my discussion about this because arguing on the internet is like running in the special Olympics , if you win or even think you win you are still special

Because the mantra of the day is validation, which then becomes the truth instead of seeking the truth.

But some still can't get their minds around that it is the additive package in a oil that makes or breaks it. The arguments over conventional, faux synthetic, blends, "true" synthetic have almost been relegated to arguments of the past. I said almost. And with the increase in base oil made from Natural Gas, the differences in base oils become less defined. Modern base oil refining and manufacture have really come a long, long way this century. But the add packs, now there is where things can get curious. Except for the base spec it claims to meet, like CJ-4, everything else is pretty much up to the blender and is all over the map.

My preference is a blend. That gives me the best of both worlds for base oil. And have it blended with a really stout additive package. Even the full synthetics I use, they are blends of Group III and Group IV. Again, best of both worlds. Each type of base oil brings something special to the game. There is no "best" base oil for all applications. Combine a good base oil mix with a really good additive package, and you have about as good of protection as you could expect. That is one of the reasons I choose the oil supplier I use for both personal and business concerns. They are very forthcoming in telling what base oils they are blending and the style of add pack they are putting in it.

All this post shows me is that you still aren't getting it. which is fine because sometimes I don't get it either. I'm sure you're a good nurse. Someday just let us know what you decide to do.
