synthetic 15w40

Sure glad I worked hard to track down 15/40 synthetic, Wolfs Head makes it. Fairly inexpensive also, CJ4.
Next time 5W/40 T6.

there is no reason for a discussion on oil to turn into an Unfriendly Politics insult fest.
And I don't believe anyone answered the OP's question, after all this...
But I'm sure he'll now never forget everything else.

Everyone who hasn't asked a potentially unnecessary question on this forum please raise your hand.
Sometimes I want to hear what you all think, not what Google says...

My late wife was an RN. Procedures are everything, you follow the rules until the rules don't work.
Scientific methods applied. That's all the OP is trying to do, follow his warranty requirements.
Just like I did starting out.

daugen: well put. esp w/the negativity part. but an open forum is just that, as well. given the OP's question, other options come to mind for that engine oil application given outdated owners manuals..... just to keep an open mind (esp the OP) without being thin skinned. & with courteous exchange

Understand completely. But I think all everyone was trying to say is that if 15w40 is spec'd, 5w40 also falls within he spec/requirements/warranty, and is in many ways better oil..

No body running a 1980s vehicle is trying to find the SG or SF oils that the manual specs are they?

As to the ops question if royal purple is any good, that has been answered many times in this thread. But it's like asking if Ford or Chevy is better. You will get many different opinions. There are many good brands of oil. I am not gonna take part in a brand-war pissing match. To me, it makes a bigger difference using a 5w40 than what brand of 15w40 you can find.

Agree... does the OP also use his/her nursing manuals from 15 years ago when he/she went to school or do you use the latest and greatest medical knowledge?

Murse72 this is probably the one subject you could post on that gets everyone talking... : ) Welcome to TBN!
Don't take any of it personal : )

my feeling are not hurt lol. if people in hand cuffs and people high on pcp or meth can't piss me off at work people on here can't. i also worked correctional nursing for 6yrs , that is a thick skin job. people kept wanting me to comment on something i didn't ask about so i gave them my comment. and as far as things change in the medical field they have changed also some things were done a certain way because it was thought if it sounds good then in was good. now is has gone to " evidence base practice" it has shown some of the things done in the past didn't help at all. so as long as my tractor is under warranty i will go by what kubota says in the manual

I get you and don't blame you at all.. mine isn't under warranty so take a little more liberty. Manuals do exist for a reason.
