No kidding. It doesn't surprise me, because we all know if you base truth on these reality TV shows, you will end up being disappointed.Wow, thats such a short time to harvest trees.

Did you ever drive a PT 425? It
I live in a logging community, most of the coastal pnw is logging. Brutal job. But IMO those huge trees are long gone and most of the stuff is factory trees, 15 to 20 year growth max. And now it is very mechnical. Small operations still have a significant labor force but the big ones are very automated.

I appreciate the input. My neighbor across the street is a diesel/tractor mechanic that keeps the farmers in the fields. I'll see if he'd be on board with helping work out the kinks and then if all system go, I'll check my options with Terry. If it doesn't work to get the FI, then I guess NBD.

Josh, was that directed at me about driving a PT? If so, I've never even seen one. For all I know, the 28hp is totally unnecessary.

Anyone near in central Illinois have PT I can take a peek at?

Having a seasoned mechanic around should be a big confidence booster. The tractors themselves are actually mechanically very simple; three pumps some valves and four hydraulic motors. I sure wish I had had a seasoned diesel/tractor mechanic across the street when I started. The forum here has been fantastic. (Thank you TBN members!!!)

That said, there is a certain amount of due diligence in maintenance- changing the filters, the oil, and tightening the myriad of hydraulic hoses- that come with the design. All very simple, but sometimes a little awkward or cramped. Oh, and don't forget to clean out the cooling system regularly.

At the end of the day, I couldn't do what I do on this property without our Power-Trac. It is definitely transformative.

All the best,

Peter

No, I was just talking about the timbering. I wasn't directing anything towards anyone.

When the truck driver delivered mine last month, he said that he has been busy at delivering them.

I am sure only a small fraction of PT owners find their way to tractorbynet, so that is all that we know about.

I found out recently that a landfill about 40 miles north of where I live, has a PT slope mower.
