I went to help a friend on a landscaping job. He was behind and had 2 big piles of dirt to move and spread. Because I was just going to loosen the pile and he would spread it,we decided not to take a box on mine to save room. Big mistake. That tractor beat me to death with out a counterweight. Mine is also gear drive. Today decided that if I ever buy another tractor it will be hst

I found out with my first tractor that its a lot smoother with an implement on the 3-point. I notice your gas is sure cheap - regular here is $2.69.

I really don't know if gear vs hst makes that much difference. My current tractor is hydraulic shuttle and without something on the 3-point - I best have my seat belt on.

25' or 30' trailer?

What is the friends tractor? MX5200/5800?

I have though about trying to fit both my MX5100 and dads L3400 both with bushhogs on my 25' trailer. But I just dont think they will both fit, even without loaders. The bushhogs just take up too much room.

My trailer is 28+4. I can haul my M9540 w/FEL no rear attachment bucket sitting on GN an 3910 no FEL with rear blade sitting on Dovetail. No way I could haul both with cutters.

It is 28'. The tractor is a mx5200. It did not pull good the way it's loaded either. We pull 17 round bales with no problems. But this load was jerking the truck.

I have yet to try anything. But have been kicking around the idea of just seeing if I can get both loaded on the trailer.......incase I get into another large 20+ acre job....a second machine would be nice.

My thoughts....if I were to pull the L3400 on, all the way forward, and sit the cutter on the deck. Then back on the MX, cutter as high as it will go, and sit it down over top of the cutter on the L3400. Would be close, but the DS96 cutter hanging off the back of the MX takes up alot of room. IF I had a 28+4 instead of my 20+5....I think I could do it pretty easy.

Thats surprising. Did it act like not enough tongue weight? Both tractors weigh about the same, and you have the NH pretty far forward. And it looks like the MX COG is just a little behind the trailer axles. (I would guess the COG about right where the loader uprights mount to the tractor.) Maybe pulling the MX on forward might have gotten a tad more tongue weight.

You loaded it the only way I see that you could. The box blade put the MX too far back on the trailer. No other way around it unless you would have put the box blade on the back chained down and used the MX to lift it off when unloading. Just looking at it you would think that tongue weight was OK.

How long did it take for you to mow 20 acres. I did a 23 acre place with thick pasture with my 5055 and mx7. Took 15 tractor hours and 50 gallons of fuel. Was terrible. Luckily it's next door and I could do it over a few days. That one job is a big reason to go up to 100hp and batwing.

IT was actually about a 30 acre job. Took ~8 hours. I was moving along pretty quick. Here is a write up with pics I did about the job. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/photos/361701-pictures-mornings-mowing-job-30-a.html?highlight=

I do another job that is ~9 acres....broken up into two sections which are about 5.5 acres and 3.5 acres. Would be nice to have the two tractors then as well. This job gets done once every 4-6 weeks. (not supposed to let it get over 12"). So its pretty easy going. Takes ~2.5 hours from the time I pull in the drive til the time I am pulling out.
