TomCat - unless you are worried about your pets finding and eating dead rodents. Poison is the only way to eliminate and stray in control.

For every one you see there are a dozen you don't. Since they reformulated decon it's pretty much junk. What do you have in the barn?? If it's just equipment, traps of all kinds will keep them under control. If you keep animals and have feed a few cats (even if you don't like them) are the best alternative.

I have just equipment, no feed, hay etc.

I use glue pads placed along a wall and poison. works pretty well. You wil never eliminate them all.

My experience is they don't do any good. since we have dogs, I'd rather not use poison. the traps are effective for us.

I use a couple of the ultrasonic repellers in the garage and attic. Mostly in an attempt to discourage them from running in under the garage door when it's open. Don't really know how effective they are by themselves, but they can't hurt. I try to make it as inhospitable as possible, but the wife won't let me keep any pet black snakes in there. A couple of TomCat traps (peanut butter), a 5-gal bucket water trap baited with peanut butter, 2 or 3 glue traps, and some poison baits up on top of the poured concrete foundation walls all help to make it inhospitable. I HATE mice in the house. They can hang out in the shed if they want, just as long as they don't nest up in the tractor and chew wiring.
