My two cents worth. No on bait. Yes on barn owl boxes.

Nobody liked my suggestion of snakes? If you go to a pet store, they sell mice to feed your snakes. Cats have to wait for mice to come out, the snakes will slither right down the mouse runs and clean them out. You don't have to keep poisonous snakes, and they will love the warm spots in the straw and hay in the winter.

TomCat - unless you are worried about your pets finding and eating dead rodents. Poison is the only way to eliminate and stray in control.

Tomcat will work. One bite and they die. I use it in my garage, shop, and barn.

I've been using tomcat bait blocks. It seems like I'm just feeding the mice. I never find a dead one but the chunks disappear quicker than my dog eats her dog food.

The noise generating ones don't work, though oddly enough we discovered that they keep birds away. The rat zapper traps work great, poison does too, but isn't safe for pets or wildlife. The only real solution is to seal up any openings.

I was hoping for a different response, but guess it's to be expected. We have two chicken coops and the mice are everywhere. It's become a huge issue. They dig tunnels under everything. We tried poison, but it did't accomplish anything, and then when our chickens found the bodies, they would get sick eating them. None died, but you could tell something was wrong for a few days. We have several traps set out that catch them non stop, but it's a slow process without any real results. Our most effective method has been to put the hose in the hole and flood them out. They come out of the water, or other holes one at a time, and the chickens go crazy catching and eating them. I saw over 30 come out of one hole, and my wife said that she got at least 80 of the other day.

They run around at night, when the chickens are all asleep, and they hid in their underground tunnels during the day when the chickens are active. So far, this hose trick has been the most effective.

I keep telling myself to make one of those five gallon bucket traps. Then I forget until I see a mouse, and I tell myself to do it, but get distracted again.

I use Ramik blocks. They have a hole thru them. Drive a small nail into a short 2x4 block leaving about 2" of nail. Snip off the head and drop a block over the nail. They can't carry it off then.
