I have seen several TBN threads in which members have posted photos of their firewood storage methods. However, I haven't seen anything like the care these folks take in storing firewood:2 People Who Turned Piling Logs Into An Art Form.

Here are two of my favorite examples:

Some folks just have to much time on thier hands. But it is cool to look at. I guess everyone just wants attention these days.

Most likely these folks do this for themselves and no one else!

I've seen the tree before, but not the fish. Nice!

Your certainly welcome to your own opinion. I just want to caution you that your statement seems that it could be applied to the arts and artistic expression in general. I don't see these stacks as being anything different than any other art, except that it's also functional, which some, but not all art is. I think a world without art wouldn't be that much fun. I'm sure you see that too. I think these people deserve to be appreciated, and their artwork admired. Just my opinion, though.

I'm with you on this! I made an artistic firewood stack myself one time. Only picture of it is printed, so I can't show you anyway, but I was just having fun, not trying to get attention. I admit, though that it was nowhere near the size, resolution, or level of creativity that the OP posted.

Anyway, thanks OP for posting. Hopefully we'll get some more cool pictures!

Doubtful. Most likely they did this, took pics, and shared it with many people which is why the pics ended up in the article.

I certainly have no problem with this as it is certainly art but lets be real and not pretend that the writer of the article randomly took these pics while driving around. An enormous amount of effort was put into some of these and the people who did so likely were eager to share the experience which seems to be popular these days.

Isnt that the basis of TBN's own nature for the most part? We document our experiences, and share with our group. I share many of my projects, and while I do enjoy the feedback from all of you who respond, my posts are well-intentioned, in effort to share ideas and methods as others have done for me. But you do make a good point in your post, many do share to excess... One of the reasons I've not posted to my Facebook account in 5 years, and only even checked it 3 or 4 times in that time.

But... On topic... Cool pictures of the firewood...

What exactly is it that you're eager to share by posting in this thread.

Who has too much time on their hands, people who make artistic stacks of firewood, or people who sit around posting on forums online about the art other people make?

Sorry, your posts just kind of bummed me out. I thought it was a cool premise for a thread.

Lots more.

firewood art - Google Search

I've never been too interested in do anything like that with my firewood, but on the subject of firewood storage, I've seen some woodsheds that were works of art. Better construction than some places I've lived in.
