Firewood Storage as Art

It's photo shopped.

All I know is that when I stack my wood I attempt to fit the pieces together like a puzzle or tetris game. I even rubber-mallet the ends in to straighten the row.

It just looks better and is aesthetically pleasing... maybe a tiny bit CDO. (yes, I know that the condition acronym is slightly different but the letters aren't in order!)

Perhaps this stacking practice is an extension of Artisanal Firewood: Maker Series: Artisanal Firewood | CBC Radio - YouTube

Lots more.

firewood art - Google Search

I've never been too interested in do anything like that with my firewood, but on the subject of firewood storage, I've seen some woodsheds that were works of art. Better construction than some places I've lived in.

Nice link!

Mine's not art, but I like looking at it. This is the first one I built in 2009. I've working on #8 right now.

It's 8' high X 10' diameter.

I think if I had one that nice I would be hesitant to burn any of the wood.

I do go along the pile with a large log and bump any of the ends that are sticking out. Makes a big difference in how neat it looks plus I think it improves stability [we burn highly variable round logs].

Look at that nice shadow line on the bottom of the wood pile in the first picture, I've never seen a stack of wood have such a smooth linear line. Then look at the dog in the second picture. The scale between it and the wood pile are not the same.

These pictures have been floating around the internet for years. They use to show up in office email chains that went around.

I don't think that photo had to be photoshopped. Stacking wood is not that difficult that it requires trickery to show off.
As for the dog, he is much closer so of course he is going to look bigger. Nothing fake to see here.

Isnt that the basis of TBN's own nature for the most part? We document our experiences, and share with our group. I share many of my projects, and while I do enjoy the feedback from all of you who respond, my posts are well-intentioned, in effort to share ideas and methods as others have done for me. But you do make a good point in your post, many do share to excess... One of the reasons I've not posted to my Facebook account in 5 years, and only even checked it 3 or 4 times in that time.

But... On topic... Cool pictures of the firewood...

I'm with ya Greg. I've started many threads on TBN of projects I'm working on or of things I see, photo and share because I think they are interesting. I never hang my heart on the responses I get. I don't believe Steve does either.

It appears these people are much better at uniform cutting of their firewood than I....... I've got a friend whose stacked firewood is so precisely cut that he cross stacks. Pretty sure every piece is within an inch of two of the same length. Cool, but extremely wasteful cause he leaves laying everything that doesn't fit his parameters. :)

I've I did all the work and effort to make anything like that I wouldn't want to tear it up to burn the wood.
