Great project!!!! You John Deere guys (Greg and you) sure do nice work!!!!
When I built mine I first fastened the roof metal-to-metal to the framework. The vibration noise was horrible!!!! Took it apart and cut pieces of rubber belting to fit contact points. Much better.
Thanks for the thread. You guys will never know how many builders will pick up tips from threads like this one and Greg's.

If I had 1/2 the fab skills you have I would be happy. How many man hours do you estimate you had in this project? To pay someone for this type of work is expensive and I know that it takes a lot of time and skill. Great job. Thanks for the pictures and info.

I probably have about 40 hrs of shop time in it, and about 10 of it was looking at it and thinking how I'm going to do everything, I f I built another one for my other tractor I could do it in about 20 hrs. I probably have another 20hrs of lost sleep laying in bed at night thinking about building it also

I tested mine without and with the rubber strips, it probably cut the noise and vibration about 75% by adding rubber

The planning/engineering aspect is so time consuming. I easily spend as much if not more time thinking, measuring, mock-ups, etc... Than the actual cut/weld/grind/paint time.
Threads like this have been extremely helpful to me in my thought process, even of seemingly unrelated topics. Its often strange the things that jog your brain, and stimulate the creativeness needed to come up with good ideas.
Andy, do you plan to make another, for the second tractor? If so, what would you do differently ?

I would like to build a log trailer if I do that then I might build a another canopy for the other tractor. I would probably build it out of 1/8" wall vs 3/16" wall steel , I think after I get some more hrs of use I might have a few more little things I would change.
