Aftermarket tool batteries VS factory batteries.

I've had DeWalt 18 volt tools for years. Started out with the standard XRP batteries which are very heavy. About 3 years ago I bought a couple of OEM Lithium Ion batteries. They are much better. Longer run time and much lighter in weight. But the OEM batteries are expensive. So when I wanted more of them I ordered some from Battery Replacement for Dewalt, Makita, Garmin, Milwaukee, Magellan, Hitachi, TomTom. Their Li-Ion replacements have 50% more ampere hours, are about 40% cheaper than OEM, and they give you a free charger with each battery. I have several with hundreds of cycles on them and no problems.

You didn't say what voltage your Makita batteries are but they have Li-Ion replacements for some of them. Oh, and free shipping.

They are 18 volts. They are already Lithium ion.

It seems to save about half the weight of the Ni-Cad batteries, only down side is when they die they die NOW. N
ot slowly like the Ni-Cad.

It seems to save about half the weight of the Ni-Cad batteries, only down side is when they die they die NOW. N ot slowly like the Ni-Cad.

My tools are fairly new and already use lithium ion batteries. No adaptor needed.

I bought a load of Makita tools at an auction a while back. The problem is I only got one working battery. I'm looking for opinions on factory vs aftermarket batteries. I use them a lot so I really need to buy a second battery. I don't know how I got by without a cordless sawzall, impacts, and a grinder. At one point I thought they were useless and I wouldn't have bought them new. It was the best $140 I've spent. I have 2 dead batteries. Does anyone think they contain enough good cells to make one working battery? View attachment 487284

I bought some cheap aftermarket replacements for my DeWalt stuff and they didn't hold up worth a dayum. I finally gave up and started replacing my all my tools with lithium powered tools. At the prices they want for factory replacement batteries it didn't make any sense to hang on to the old stuff any longer. I think that is by design.

Now if someone out there would make aftermarket lithium replacement batteries and chargers for the older NiCad tools, they'd have a decent market. There's at least one customer right here.

If there were replacement batteries for the older cordless tools I would be in great shape. I would have about 12 four piece sets.

The last time I bought cordless tools I bought two sets of Ryobi and high output batteries for them. These batteries lasted longer than the prior Milwaukee, Porter-Cable and DeWalt tools. This summer Home Depot had a sale on batteries and I purchased 6 new Ryobi batteries for 50% off.

I believe the Craftsman C19 Li-Ion batts are a direct replacement for the Ni-Cad ones..

I've had the cells in some battery packs replaced by Batteries-Plus. A bit of a savings over OEM and seem to last longer seeing they use a good replacement cell. I have my doubts about anything on E-bay, probably the cheapest cell they can find. Last I checked, Batteries-Plus did not do work on the Lithium batteries. They also sell the whole battery pack.

I bought an aftermarket battery. My current battery is a 3 amp hour and the new one is a 4 amp hour, but I doubt it's a truthful rating. What brings on the questioning of the rating is the new battery weighs 2.5 oz. less. Shouldn't the 4 amp hour battery be heavier? The next test is to plug them up in my circular saw and see which battery makes more cuts. The new one should win with flying colors, but I'm not feeling it. The good news is I bought it from Amazon and Amazon offers an excellent return policy.

Bosch dropped OEM for my 12v cordless tools.

I went to Batteries Plus and the price was too high...

Just by coincidence I was at another Batteries Plus and the price was much less and the guy that rebuilt them showed me what he uses and even said I could wait or come back tomorrow... it's been a couple of years and no complaints.
