FoodSaver Vacum Sealer

Picking the right sealer is dependent upon the quantity of food you would want to store and the magnitude of your meal you prefer to store. Vacuum sealers of crazysales are the best way to obtain more out of your food you purchase. With proper storage, they are able to significantly extend the lifespan on your food, prevent spoilage, and reduce waste. They're a highly effective money-saving tool that benefits homeowners and families, and food lovers.

I have the first generation Foodsaver, it's over 20 years old, and still works fine.

I use vacuum bags for long term freezing. And, the canisters to vacuum marinate meats.

We fry my sweet corn, and freeze it in bags. Occasionally bags get lost in the freezer, and wind up being years old, and it is still as good as when it was made.

My wife vacuum packs many things, sometimes in bags a little bigger than necessary. Then, after cutting off the sealed top edge to open, she will wash out, dry, re-use the bag and seal it again, sometimes multiple times.

She even dehydrated sweet corn kernels cut off the cob and then vacuum packed. When re-hydrated, she says they taste like fresh. She packs bulk coffee beans, nuts, and any meat after it's first frozen. Most things that will be frozen need to be frozen before vacuum packing. She said to read the online manual.

Notice I said that my wife said to read the manual. We don't need to. Males are born with a natural sense of direction and good judgement as well as the ability to understand and assemble most anything mechanical. You can look it up. :D

Yep, you are right. I read it on the Internet so it must be true!:laughing::laughing::laughing:

How did she dehydrate the corn?

We just got some new cable TV "set top boxes" the other day as our cable system is doing away with analog signals and going all digital. Anyway I futzed around with the new remote control for about 10 minutes to figure out how to pair the tv with the new remote and then broke down and read the chintzy little manual they sent with it. It took less than 10 seconds to do it after reading the instructions. A couple of days later, I realized on the back of the remote, those same simple instructions were printed on it in white lettering. :confused2: RTFM... Read The Fine Manual indeed.:)

James, James, James...

Delete this post. Never mention this again. Loose lips sinks ships. If this gets out you might loose your Man Card, or worse, your TBN Card!:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Ignoring my own advice, I had a similar "issue" with opening the battery compartment on a remote....:confused3::shocked::eek::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:

The worst part? The wifey laughed at me. :ashamed::eek::laughing::laughing::laughing:

Later,
Dan

That's cool, that years later your corn is still good. #1 it shows you have great corn, #2 is shows that you have a great storage processes.

They work terrific for vac sealing and freezing smoked salmon. I get a whole smoked filet at Costco or Sams, slice it in about 3/4" wide strips and then divide the whole sliced thing in about 5 or 6 portions. Wrap each portion in waxed or freezer paper, then vac seal each one. Each package will keep well in the deep freeze for a year or more. And then each package makes for about two weeks of perfect slices for morning bagels.

That is a cool use. thx
