Mahindra 2810
Good morning everyone. I need your input please. I own a year 2000 Mahindra 2810. The only hydraulics is on the 3pth. I would like to add remote hydraulics as it does everything that I currently need and should be able to last me into retirement. I guess by adding 4 ports that will allow me to take care of about any future attachments that I need as well as TNT.

Reviewing my service manual this morning there is a section in hydraulics about a remote hydraulic control. However it does not indicate where I would tie into the hydraulics for flow. I believe the power steering pump would have insufficient flow to operate. Any recommendations as to where I should tie into in order to add the remotes?

Do you plan on going with OEM remotes? or an aftermarket setup?

I would also advise to go with 3 sets of remotes (6 ports). You mention a TNT setup. TNT takes 2 sets (4 ports)....so you will be all tied up if you need another function, like hydraulic angle on a rear blade? OR hydraulic rippers on a box blade.

Thanks for info concerning the ports. I will definitely need 6 ports then. Is there really a difference between the OEM versus aftermarket?

I agree. Go 3 if at all possible. When I'm using my BB I'm using all 3. Also can use a hydraulic implement such as my wheel disc without unhooking my TnT which stays on all the time.

The difference is always in regards to the control levers. Most aftermarket kits simply fasten the valves to the tractor fender so the levers will not be in as comfortable position.

With all that said, I'm not familiar with your tractor. My description above only applies if your tractor is available with 3 sets from the factory??

Here are a few questions as I look at the multitude of 3 spool valves on amazon as I try to learn about hydraulics. TNT primarily will be the major use however want to have additional ports to run, maybe one day in future, log splitter or blade or whatever. If those implements are what I wish to use what type of control valve do I need? Let me give an example of questions that pop into my head as I look at various valves.

Directional Control Valve, Monoblock, Cast Iron, 3 Spool, 4 Ways, 3 Positions, Tandem, Spring Center, Lever Handle, 3000 psi, 25 gpm, In/Out: 3/4" NPT Female, Work 1/2" NPT Female

What is the purpose of "4 Ways" and "3 positions" on a valve? Is that overkill for what I will need it for?

Single Acting Cylinder Spool, Spring Center
I am noticing that "spring center" is showing up on a lot of the valves. Is that preferred? What is a single acting cylinder spool versus one that is not single acting?

I appreciate your helping in answering what may be very "immature" questions but I am a newbie when it comes to hydraulics and I really want to have a good basic understanding of what I am trying to do before I jump into this.

There is an Army hydraulics field manual on here somewhere that you can down load. That could help you bone up on hydraulics. Try a search on FM 5-499.
