Hello again,

Told you I'd be back asking about my 990, and here I am!

Finally got it picked up and back home. New battery. Pulled all fuel filters, blew out all lines, drained tank, new filters, all back together, purged the lines and........ no go;(

Started the standard what is it. Ran through the electrical. I can hear and feel solenoid firing. Did the fuel system diagnosis from the TM manual. Still no go

Started pulling lines and seeing where I have fuel. I have fuel out of mechanical lift pump. I have fuel coming out of excess fuel return line. I cannot get fuel to the injectors. Cracked an injector line at injector and nothing. Seems to be getting it everywhere but there.

So it seems solenoid but I don't know how to check that.

So all you diesel geniuses, where do I go from here?

Some FYI

All filters were DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY.

Pre-filter or separator just under tank with metal filter, the filter had collapsed due to not being cleaned, but seems there was suction pressure somewhere to get it to collapse.

It's the 4TNE84 engine with mechanical lift pump vs electrical pump.

Don't know when tractor ran last, probably over five years.

Thanks in advance

Are there actually 2 fuel filters ? One at the tank and one on the lower right side of the motor ?

Yup. Got them both. Rear one was just collapsed from pressure. Front one was crazy DIRTY.

Fuel stop solinoid? Thats my guess, test it to be sure its actually operating.

Solenoid was my guess as well. How do you test that?

Gas cap was off while testing.

If you pull the solinoid out, it should retract if you jog the starter, and stay pulled in untill key is switched to off. 2 bolts likely hold solinoid in place, probably 10mm heads.

If you confirm that the solenoid is working, I am afraid you may have injection pump problems. Five years is a long time sitting idle. The old fuel may have gummed up the plungers in the injection pump. There is a plate on the side of the pump you could remove to see the plungers. If you crank the engine over while watching the plungers, they should move up and down. Most likely they will be stuck in the up position and the springs don't have enough tension to push them back down.

So if I get the solenoid checked and still no go, this is probably out of my abilities? The manuals troubleshooting all end up at "have injection pump serviced". I'm assuming this is more specialized than I may have the chops and tools for.

That is a good assumption...
