121 volt pigtail plug

Well the gist of it is, you must identify If there is 12 volts on this pigtail, and where it is fused to in the fusebox. Then decide what other circuits if any are sharing this fuse and what the current rating of the fuse is. Then calculate the current requirements of the proposed load (the warning light) and then decide if this load can be safely added to the existing fused circuit. It is all pretty simple stuff. I may make it sound more complicated than it is. Good luck with it, and check back in if you have specific questions at any point.

Translation: Unplug the fuse and see what stops working. The fuse size should be written on it.

Of course we are making some assumptions here, that the pigtail with the T molex plug was designed for some accessory power load, and that there is some "headroom" left in the fused circuit that the design engineer purposely designed in. I usually go around all of these concerns by running my own properly sized wire and properly sized fuse to the battery connection.

But I have "scabbed" onto an existing circuit before too, like when I did my voltmeter install in my dash. But the voltmeter draws an insignificant amount of current so no worries there.

I also hooked up a connection at the rear of the tractor for my pump powered sprayer utilizing an existing wire originally designed for a rear work lamp. But I took into consideration the current requirements for the work lamp and my new sprayer current load was less than the work lamp would have been if it had been installed so I was good to go.

i will try that but at this point it is not connected to anything..just the pigtail as i showed in the picture.. the book describes it as power outlet for rear implements. I m not sure what rear implements need electricity but i guess there are... i put a call into my salesman too. let you know..

ok, that makes alot of sense...i forgot about sprayers etc.. im sure there are a number of applications.

If it truly is a power outlet designed as an accessory for rear implements than that is a good sign. Now all you need to do is make sure it is energized (may require the key to be on) and to discover what it is fused for by pulling likely fuses until it is de-energized. Then you will know how large of a load you can safely power. Keep in mind that the maximum safe load for a fused circuit is about 3/4 of the fuses maximum rating. In other words if if it is fused for 10 amps you would not want to pull more than about 7 amps continuous load. Check the load rating of your proposed warning light and it needs to be under the continuous load rating of the fuse plus any other things that may be on that same circuit.
