Flashlight

There are a lot of great LED lights out there today in the 20-50 dollar range, they will blind the fire out of you & battery life is great.
Checkout a reputable outdoor store & see what they have, gun stores are another good place to look.

I purchased several Dewalt 20V LED lights... use them all the time..

I have three DCL040R, one DCL050 and one DCL043...

I use the DCL040R for general purpose.. the DCL050 for working under the hood of my tractor/truck... and the DCL043 for hunting/etc (it's one heck of a spot light)...

And my wife has two DCL040R and one DCL050 for sewing..

If you search the web/ebay... you can find some good deals on the Dewalt lights and 20V Lithium-ion batteries...

I converted all of our Maglites to use LEDs a couple of years ago.

You have to make sure the replacements work with older flashlights but other than doing the reading, the new LEDs have worked as advertised. MUCH brighter light and the batteries last a LONG time.

This is one of the replacements I bought that was sorta cheap:

TerraLUX TLE-6EXB MiniStar5 14 Lumens, Led Conversion Kit for 2-3 Cell C&D MagLites - Led Household Light Bulbs - Amazon.com

This one was NOT cheap but it will light up a black hole:
Terralux TLE-31M-EX MiniStar31M-EX LED Conversion Kit for 4-6 D Cell MagLite - - Amazon.com

Our road has a curve and if I stand at the end of the road, and shine a light down said road, the light runs out of road to light up. A good 1000 feet or so.

Looking at flashlights is way to complicated! Maglites I bought in the 80s and 90s still work so I just upgraded them to LEDs. Heck, the danged light bulbs were original.

I think I have a Surefire that is around 20 years old that is pretty good too and much smaller than a Maglite. I don't think it uses LEDs either.

I just bought one of the TV advertised Atomic Beam flashlights available at Walmart for $19.99. It was the one using 3ea of the AAA batteries. The beam is as promised, very bright and when spotlight beam focused, it reaches hundreds of feet, when in flood light mode, it is very good to walk around the yard with.

Maglite D and C-cell flashlights.

Full Size - Flashlights

Mid Size - Flashlights
Compare lumens between the same-size LED at the top of the page and the incandescent at the bottom.

Wow, those new third generation Maglites are impressive! I have some of the 2-D cell LEDs from a few years ago, and they are really bright with a great spot light compared to the originals. The specs on these new lights dwarf what I have! I need to keep my eyes peeled for one of those 2 or 3-D ML300LX.

I've had one of these for a couple of years, one click on one click off, half press to change modes. My brother paid $95 for one of a different brand and the only difference I have found is the threads on the end cap on his is smoother as it screw on.

LED Headlamps and Headlights <<<<<<<<<<I bought two of these 150 lumens last month after trying one at work, what amazed me was the one click on and the one click off at high beam, but if you still want the lower beam just quickly click the button again. I have several brands and of the same older brand, and all they are is click click click...........till I cant take no more.

I do like the newer flashlights, small and bright, Father would of like em 70 years ago for night hunting, but unless you have 3 hands or a gofer, you have to stick it in your mouth to fix/work on something. With the headlamp, click and tilt, and eliminate's those shadows that follow me around everywhere in the shop.

I was wondering if anyone here bought that flashlight yet. Sounds like your satisfied with it, but just 3 AAA batteries the light cant last to long, hour or two maybe before they have to be changed or did the light come with rechargeable batteries and charger?

I kinda like having another walk around flashlight that throws a beam. I have a small 4 Seven's light now, throws a nice beam but pricey.

You can not find a better flashlight than this one for under $25 and it only costs around $5 with free shipping. I bought one and liked it so much I bought 10 more and put one in every car, truck, tractor I had plus one in each room of my house. The best part of it is the zoom where it concentrates all the light in one small bright spot. It makes a perfectly round beam unlike other flashlights that scatter the light everywhere.

It can use AAA batteries but I definitely recommend that you buy the 18650 rechargeable batteries and wall charger. Even if you get 10 flashlights you only need one charger. These 18650 Ultrafire 5000 mAh 3.7 volt batteries are the best batteries on the market today. The will stay charged over a year if not used, charge fairly quickly and will outlast AAA or AA batteries many times over. You can buy 2 of these batteries and a charger on Amazon for under $10. Don't waste your time buying a 2000 or 3000 mAh battery. Keep a spare to change out 1 while the other charges if you are using the light for hours at a time.

AAA, AA, C and D batteries are as obsolete as dial phones. Once you go to 18650 batteries you will wish everything you owned used them,

This light is easily brighter than my old 5 D cell maglite. It fits in your pocket easy and is practically indestructible. Many places sell this light for $10 to $30.

It switches on and off with one full click of the button and changes modes if you give it a half click. The strobe mode can stop an attacker in his tracks and the low and middle bright mode extend battery life for hours more.

No it isn't really 3800 lumens but it is very bright, convenient and practical. Don't just buy one because after you get it you will want more and then find them at a much higher price.

The only drawback to this light is that with free shipping it takes about 3 weeks to get it.

I was given an LED Lenser h7 and a couple of years later, the battery compartment cracked. I contacted them to get a new compartment and they sent me a new LED Lenser h7.2. I believe they are the same people that make the Leatherman tools and they're guaranteed the same. To me, they are a must have working on chainsaws or the tractor and most anything else. Won't be without one.
