Harbor freight

I live outside a small town that's in three counties and has an Interstate going through it. Fortunately, my property is all in one but the real headache for some of those folks used to be when they called 911. Before the system was unified, they had to describe in detail where they were. It was typical that four different LEOs showed up and sometimes eight. (county-1, county-2, county-3, city police, constable-1, constable-2, constable-3 and a state trooper.) There was enough police cars at a serious call to make a Smokey and The Bandit movie. But, it could be why there's little crime. :)

There was an intersection, I guess it's still there, in silicon valley that was in four different towns depending on which which street and which side of the street you were on. Kinda like the four corners I guess. The Post office even had one office building split up by floor and they had different zip codes and different postal carriers. Now that's a real mess. I guess if the same company occupied the building on different floors you could be promoted to a different zip code.

The asking phone number is actually a survey of sorts.
The 3 digits are generally fairly local so they can judge where their client base is from and send mailers to those zones.
Asking for the ZIP code would be a bit more accurate for that purpose .

Before we got our store I bought 10 times more Harbor Freight then now, like you I think there attitude at check out is to much, they change prices faster then most people change there socks, have reduced there warranty down to three months , do not have wifi in the store and I receive my price coupons in a email

I don't go to HF very often since the nearest store is a 2+ hr drive, but those times I have the staff has never been rude. Could care less about wifi...I'm there to shop for tools, not surf the net.
Yeah, it's a box store. For what they pay, they're not going to get tool experts working there. Then again, you don't always get anyone who knows anything at a "real" tool store either.

What cracks me up are people who blur out licence plate numbers in vehicle photos. I mean duh, you're driving around in public with your licence plate exposed to everyone anyway. It's not exactly a secret.

Granted, vehicle registration info is public record, but if I were to post a picture of one of my vehicles online I wouldn't want the plate legible either. You never know who's out there or what their intentions are. Not that any of my vehicles are worth stealing...

Do you see many black helicopters flying around?

When a store asks me for my number I tell them I don 't give that info. Then they usually say they need it for the register to complete the sale . I tell them if they just need a number, put in their own. The funniest dumb bunnies are the ones who don 't realize it is on the check I wrote . As far as I 'm concerned all they need to do business is my desire to buy and the money I pay .

HF uses the phone number to see if you are still a customer, other wise they quit sending the monthly catalog with coupons. I dropped my land line a long time ago, but continue to give that number and everyone is happy.

^^^

I have asked at the closest two stores and that is what they told me to- after a few months they quit sending the mailers out so i don't mind giving the phone # out.

guess our store has nicer people working - they are always respectful and even (cheerful) most of the time.

Obviously from this post, we all pretty much do not care for unsolicited phone calls. Rather than rely on "do not call lists', etc., perhaps the best thing to do is to answer the call, listen for the computer to pick up that we actually answered and then when some "smuck" (whom is likely just trying to make a living ) to either tell them to go (don't make me say it) or ask for their supervisor, if available, then to tell them to go (again, don't make me say it)

Supposedly, the carriers are working on this. Yeah right.

For the record, I don't care to give my number to HF. I like many of their offerings. I don't "wrench" for a living so I look over their tools. If they look like they will do what I need and are relative in size and feel to something made in China or Taiwon but costing double then HF is my choice.

I just give them my cell # and it gets typed in wrong. This months ad carried a 25% off coupon that I used twice today. Let the games begin.
