Kubota L4400 4wd w/LA 703 FEL
When I got my Kubota L4400 10 or so years ago the hairpin/cotter pins that secured the pins that hold the lower lift arms in place were different from the typical pins:

shopping

On the OEM ones the straight part of the pin was longer. In other words it stuck out farther than the edge of the top leg. I've lost them both but really like them better than the typical ones. Anyone know where to get pins like I'm describing?

I know what you mean - that longer lead-in makes them easier to use. If you can't kind what you are looking for maybe you can use some of those pins that have the circular bail springs (don't remember the proper name) instead. They are easy to use and do come in small diameter pin sizes.

I think you might be referring to these, called linchpins. I use them wherever I can and replace the hitch pins with them.

Yes - Thanks for the help. I do the same. They seem much more user friendly to me.
And I see you are new Monkey..... Welcome to TBN

Keep in in, all linchpins are NOT created equal... The cheaper ones don't have near as strong of a spring in them as the more expensive models.

The cheaper ones, usually made in India, kinda wear out with use, but the better ones are much more secure and last much longer...

Absolutely true, Rob. I tried some of those black ones they sell at Tractor Supply, and thought I might need one of those filter gorillas to open it.

Soooo, does anyone know where to find the hairpin ones with the longer bottom stem? Linchpins are too large for what I need.

Boring Saturday nite N80 so I tried a little searching. Not too good. I know exactly what you're looking for with the longer pin on bottom but to no avail. Did find some other names for them though. Hairpin. R pin. Reusable cotter pin. Hitch pin to name a few. You would think you should find them on the web somewhere but I didn't have much luck.

Thanks for looking. I've looked too. No luck. Kubota dealer does not have them either. My tractor came with two of them. Like them so much better than regular ones but lost them both after 10 years. When you're leaning over, in poor light, reaching to get it a pin in place in an awkward position the longer stem really helps. Great design. A shame they're so hard to find. I'd by a box of them if I could find them.

Same boring Saturday night here too. Which suits me fine. Sipping on a good Scotch down at my cabin. Much needed light rain falling. Just finished a great meal of grilled fresh (today) venison loin. Sometimes boring is okay.

I would go to the Kubota website (or the Messicks website) and look at the exploded parts diagrams for the 3 point hitch on your tractor.
Somewhere, it should have the part number listed for them. If not, look for the 3 point hitch on the L3800, it also had the same pins new (they have been lost and not replaced.
If I was to replace them, I would cut the OEM pins off of the chains and replace them with the "D" shaped pins that they sell as PTO locking pins (they have a straight pin and a C shaped piece of wire that loops around to lock things in place), something like this: Amazon.com: Koch Industries 421413 PTO Locking Pin with Round Wire Retainer, 1/4 x 1-3/4-Inch, Yellow Zinc Plated: Home Improvement but in the proper diameter (3/8ths should work IIRC).
No messing with trying to get the spring pin into the locking pin that way.

You know, I come here looking for an obscure part to solve an awkward problem and you provide no help whatsoever (looking for it from Kubota, as if) and then in one sentence solve the whole dang problem in a way that I should have but did not think of. That just ticks me off and is the reason I always come to TBN for solutions.

I have plenty of those clips lying around already. Problem solved!

Your dealer needs to learn to use the Kubota Parts Book. Now that I am back home at my computer, it took me 3 minutes to go to http://www.kubota.com/part/partsList.aspx enter in L4400, look up the 3 point section, open the parts diagram that contains the stabilizers and find that the pin is Kubota PN TC050-51200 which is available for $1.39 from Messicks (they claim to have 2 in stock): Kubota: PIN, SNAP - MODE, Part # TC:confused:-512

I had the same issue with the aftermarket stabilizers on our B7500 and have used those with great sucess.

I was joking about that. I actually have the service and parts manual for my tractor. I could have done it myself. In all honesty I just assumed that was an add-on part that would come from any supplier. But, I just might buy those last two for kicks.

Not! The $1.39 each didn't bother me that much. Almost a joke. But $7 to ship two tiny pins in an envelope, now that's just wrong. I recently ordered a three point hitch for mounting a ball hitch from Titan. It weighed 35 pounds. Cost $55. Free shipping.

Don't get me wrong, I love Messicks and will continue to do business with them, but that's just nuts.

Found a place called Fastener Mart. You can get hairpin cotter pins (apparently the proper name) for like $40 for a hundred. The bottom stem is longer than the top but not as long as the Kubota ones.

Put enough heads together can you can solve anything. Glad you found answers N80.
