It was actually less a restoration than a refurbishment. She looks great from 50 feet...
Front end was shot, so spindles, right-hand axle knee, tie-rods, bushings and bearings. Lots of steam-cleaning and sandblasting. New radiator, thermostat, hoses and such. And she needed a dash and re-wiring, of course, one new front rim, and three new tires. Mostly I wanted to slow down the deterioration and begin to make her more reliable so I can clean up my property. She's obviously been neglected and abused and wore an FEL in her previous life, so I guess it's natural that the front end was worn out.
I didn't realize that these are considered "vintage" when I bought her, but I'm beginning to figure out what that means.
