Laser Sights and Flash Lights

/ Laser Sights and Flash Lights #11
I am curious. Many of the laser lights clearly go under the weapon but are rail mounted. I have never seen a rail on the bottom of a weapon. Not the various Uzis, MP5s or any assault rifle or pistol I have ever used had a rail on the bottom.

Here are a couple I own that do, both .45 caliber and they use the same magazine. The Beretta actually has two, one that extends out that has the light and the second that has the vertical pistol grip/bipod?

I would think for home defense using the flashlight is the way to go and for conceal carry definitely the laser. I have neither on my Taurus 9mm but always wanted to try the laser. It's pretty deadly with open sights and you can put 12 rounds through it in a hurry.

Nice!

I wonder why the restrictions on sales of the laser sights to some states. Especially, when it appears sales to Canada are OK. You wouldn't believe the stuff the Canadian Government deems prohibited! I can own a large frame 9 mil, but can't buy a small 22 revolver.

I have a Ruger SR9C with a Viridian CL5 I carry daily. No issues on the comfort side. I use a White Hat IWB holster which is molded for the CL5. It also incorporates a magnet so the ECR mode can be used. I wanted a WTSHTF weapon that would give me at an advantage in a stressful situation. Being able to shoot from any position without having to aim is huge. Just laser center mass and you will make contact. When outside shooting steel I use my sights 90% of the time. The other 10 is just to practice shooting from awkward positions without aiming and making sure the laser is zeroed with the sights.

There are multiple modes the laser and light can be set to. I always use the laser in strobe mode and the light is used at nighttime also in strobe mode.
The CL5 isn't cheap but well worth it in my opinion.

Here's a good video on using a laser and light combo. It's an X5L model but a good video.

I'm envious of what is available south of the border. We have STRICT gun laws and yet every night it seems certain segments of the population deem it somehow necessary to shoot each other with totally illegal, totally unregistered weapons.

As far as the LED flashlight goes. It would be very, very easy to incorporate an LED to only activate the flashlight in certain levels of light.

OR, does anybody have a system that only activate the light or laser when the weapon is horizontal? Maybe mercury switches have been outlawed.

There are a lot of holster manufactures that will make you a custom holster to fit your specific gun/light combo.

I have a bolt on type red laser light on my Ruger 10-22 (light is made by ruger and replaces the strap that holds the barrel into the end of the stock). The mounted laser light has a Picatinny rail built onto it so I bought a bright LED "pistol" light and attached it and I love the combo at night. The laser dot is plenty bright enough to be seen easily when both are on.

I was reading all kinds reports about cops accidentally shooting people with sidearm mounted flashlights. One cop was seen using this light to help someone find a drivers license or keys.

EEEEEEK! I am always super crazy about gun safety (you can't tell by this story). One day while installing a new furnace I needed help lifting it into place in the little closet it went in. An on duty police friend stopped by. After placing the unit, he hung around and I needed him to hold a flashlight. Mine was out of reach, so while I was contorted in working position with both hands full, he was pointing his duty pistol more or less at the back of my head :( I told him not to shoot me by accident and he promised he wouldn't, so that makes it safe, right?
